I'm only a few hours into Far Cry 4, but already I want Amita and Sabal to die. Let me join Pagan Min, for fucks sake! The dude's got more charisma and is far more entertaining than those two. I always hate rebel or resistance groups in games. I don't want to be allied with the scrappy civilians armed with cobbled-together weapons: I want to join the side with big guns, badass armor, and badass leaders. Originally, there was going to be a whole second storyline for Deus Ex where you side with UNATCO and MJ-12, going to war against the NSF and the Illuminati. I can imagine raiding the Hong Kong club alongside the MJ-12 commandos and doing cool shit like that, or putting down an uprising in Paris alongside some huge mechs. Does anyone know of any games where you're on the side of the bad guys, and stay on their side to the end of the game?
Crackdown technically. You are working for the big organization in the city as their cybernetic enforcer, and they send you out on missions. You don't learn until the end of the game that you are actually helping the head of the organization consolidate his hold of power over the entire city.

OT: James Gandolfini's character in 8mm.
He does die, and it was glorious, and I did stand up and cheer in the theater when he died, no lie. I was also the only person in the theater so it wasn't a big deal.

Snails from the Dungeons & Dragons movie, who died, and I cheered loudly in the theater when he did.

That crazy Creole/Jamaican/Whatever the hell she was woman from inFamous 2. She was so freaking stereotypical (Island Black Culture) that it shorted out my PS 3 she oozed it so much. Seriously she was a walking 1 note character, and her voice, ugh. Oh, and that same character in the Pirates of the Carrabean movies. The one who ends up being the spirit of the ocean. She was just as bad.

Thou thinkest that being a whore is worthy of dead? Iran is calling thee. Here is a flight ticket. Enjoy the sun. Please do call from time to time, cause I shall miss thee. NAH FUCK it, no I shan't miss thou. Thou misogynist pig. Although thine Drugs for the Drug Lord shtick was hilarious.

But seriously, she isn't a whore. Remember in the books she only did with Khal Drogo, WHOM SHE LOVED, and with the handsome sellsword, if she even did it. So yea, Iran is calling, enjoy
Observe the white knight in its natural habitat, So devoted to his crusade that he defends badly written fictional creations.

OT:Also your white knighting in a thread titled "CHARACTERS THAT WOULD FILL YOU WITH GLEE IF THEY DIED?".

And compare Cersei to Daenerys. Cersei gets shit done. Daenerys just goes from colossal failure to colossal failure.
I thank thee, I polish my shiny white suit of armour everyday in anticipation when I shall ride my trusty white steed into battle. Right next to Thunderfoot's severed head.

Trollmask off:

Really compare Cersei to Daenerys? Ok let's see alienated her only allies: The Tyrells, committed incest giving birth to a monster of a boyking and didn't even try to stop the war from starting when Joffrey executed Stark/Sean Ben (man he got a lot of deaths), almost lost the city when she recalled Joffrey from the walls and on and on and on...

Daenerys liberated the slaves from the cities. She led her people through a freaking desert to get to a really big city and on and on and on. I don't have time to list all the good stuff shes done. Bad shit: didnt kill off the slavers from Yunkai and chained her dragons.

I have no idea who thunderfoot is or how they relate to Game of thrones but is your experience of GOT the Books or the TV show? Because some key events are quite different. Anyway this isnt a GOT thread or a thread for whatever agenda you seem to be pushing so take it back to R&P and let the nice people get on with discussing the topic at hand.

That topic being what character they wouldn't lament seeing the death of. You know, the thread title, the title listing the purpose of the thread.

What characters in games (or shows/movies/books for that matter, just stories in general) do you dislike in such a way that, if they met an untimely demise, you would just burst into laughter or grin from ear to ear?

My number one is Cersei Lannister from Game of Thrones. I don't even follow the show (my wife watches it), but damn is she isn't just the most despicable woman I've ever seen in fiction. I get that she's SUPPOSED to be that way, but that doesn't change the fact that if she died, especially if she were mercilessly backstabbed, I would burst into a fit of Joker-like laughter.

Cersei actualy gets better fourth book onward where she's a POV character and you get more depth to her, not to mentioned she gets vicious karmic revenge.
The fourth book is currently boring me to tears. GRR might as well rename the book to "Lannister Variety Hour starring The Broody Queen and Mr. Stubby". Feast is literally Cersei, Jaimé, that block of wood, and a bunch of new challengers because GRR killed too many off in book 3.

OT:

- Lara Croft from Tomb Raider 2013, so I don't have to play it anymore, since she regularly ignores all the progress I did and undo everything in one cutscene.
- Nathan Drake. That Indy wannabe, except he's not Harrison Ford.
- Ed Jones from State of Decay. I guarantee you I'll cap him as soon as I am done with the church scene. I don't know how someone can make a even worse version of Jason Brody.
- Jason Brody. FUCK.
- Every character not named "Bronn" or "Baelish" in ASOIAF.

Indeed, and Cersei's colossal stupidity is even clearer in the books. She "gets shit done"-- but what she gets done is almost invariably bad, either stunningly incompetent or pointlessly cruel, and doesn't even avail her own side.

Now, do note, I'm not a Daenerys supporter. She lost any moral high ground when she crucified people, and she's still claiming the right to rule a damn continent she's never even been to.

OT: Trahearne, of Guild Wars 2. One of the most uninteresting heroes in existence. He's detracting from a genuinely good fantasy world.

The last of us will only be remembered as much as it is because the Sonydrones banged the drums so loud that all other sound got drowned out.
Really? Sonydrones?

And here I thought we'd left 2006 behind us, at least here on the Escapist.

What of all the songs of praise sung about the at the time equally popular Bioshock: Infinite? Oh wait, that's not an exclusive... What does that make those fans? Levinedrones?

Also played infinite to completion along with its DLC's. Good game but never understood why it was hailed as the new messiah. Levine is gonna hit Molyneux status if he keeps going.

Also Wouldnt a Levinedrone be someone espousing the virtues of System Shock?

Not really drowned out by those drumming Sonydrones then, huh? Neither were other popular games at the time like The Stanley Parable and Papers Please, which were met with just as much praise.

Never saw the appeal of Stanley Parable. Good idea but the jokes a one trick pony. The quest for the perfect ending of papers please however is Ongoing.

Dude I have no agenda here. I just troll for the shits and giggles. I'm the friendly troll, and it worked it got you riled up. And I didn't even have to resort to much. And I really love GOT, both the show and the books. So I have experience with both.

Edit: Yes the topic is that. But you presented a wrong reason for wanting her dead. If you said she was obnoxious I would have yea she kinda is. That amount of self-righteousness is gonna just kill her in WEsteros. Just like it killed 40% of the Starks (Spoilers, I guess. GO watch the damned show and read the bloody books. THey really are bloody-Directed to all who read this).

Probably the entire cast of Game of Thrones. There is not a single character left I have any kind of sympathy with. Well, maybe Tyrion. The guy is bitter and sarcastic(and often hilarious) but he's not mean-spirited or of malicious intent, and still a decent person underneath(unlike all the other characters). Which is quite a feat given the amount of shit he had to endure by his fucked up family. They should give him his own show! :p

Yes they should totally make a show of Tyrion's life, just to see him turn from a loveable child into the cynical and bitter dwarf he is.

Rosh Penin, Carth Onasi, and Kaiden. Oh wait they all can die :D

But of those that can't... Reaver from Fable. God damn I wanted to kill him evem before his kill stealing moment.
but you can never kill Raphael Sbarge.
Of course you can, just toss him into a plasma conduit!

Speaking of, I'm in the middle of a Voyager rewatch, and I just want to strangle Neelix more every episode.

Oh God, Final Fantasy, you always provide. But there is one abomination far worse than any other.
This fucker right here ^^
Honestly, I don't understand, it's like they're really committed to making the most awful character in the history of fiction. He just keeps on getting WORSE.

Then there's the protagonist from possibly the worst anime I've ever seen. To my immense satisfaction, he actually DID die. One of the best scenes ever. The payoff was almost worth the pain. Almost. Fuck you School Days.

I didn't like him, and I never used him as I hated the randomness of his special move. However, he did have some redeeming qualities. He did put Baret on the spot when he asks him about all the innocent people AVALANCHE had killed (quoted from TV Tropes).

Barret: That was for the life of the planet. Ya gotta expect a few casualties
Cait Sith: A few? Whaddya mean 'a few'? What may be a few to y'all is everything to them who died.

The game has some anti capitalism sentiment, and he brings in a shade of grey by being a good person working for a bad organisation. All be it, an annoying good person (the operator rather than the robot itself).

I like Reeve a more than his machine, which is a little silly, since they're essentially the same person. Out of curiosity, do you remember what part of the game that quote is from? I don't remember it, which is strange, since its my favorite game. I do like the complexity of the characters involved in Final Fantasy 7. The characters aren't always noble, but their honest, and I appreciate that in a title.

I'm honestly surprised that this thread hasn't devolved into "Stop hating the things I like! Stop liking the things I hate!"

Off the top of my head I can't think of any specific characters, but my general rule is this: If an NPC is insulting or belittling my character, and my character is obviously and demonstrably more powerful, and then the game prevents me from killing said NPC because of some contrived reason or gameplay mechanic, then I will usually go out of my way to make that NPC very dead as soon as possible - even if I have to mod the game to make it happen.

The vast consensus i've seen about ellie is dislike. The last of us will only be remembered as much as it is because the Sonydrones banged the drums so loud that all other sound got drowned out.

Also. Played last of us to completion. Dislike every character and their motivations.
Really? You're the first person I've seen whose had a real issue with her (besides the previous poster, of course). Also, Sonydrones? Is that even a thing? I don't get peoples obsession with brand wars, most consumers don't fall into that. Otherwise Microsoft would be flying high right now.

Anyway, The Last of Us had its merits. The story was rather weak, but it worked as a character study, regardless of whether the characters were likable. I wish the plot had been a touch more innovative. It tread old ground, but it did it about as well as it could be done.

The game was decent, its just suffering from counter-hype, like Bioshock Infinite and Final Fantasy 7. All of them were good in their own ways, but people need to look at the titles objectively, without bias from hype or counter-hype. Personally, I loved the game for the same reasons you probably hated it.

OT: Also, all of Game of Thrones. I just don't care anymore. The series should have ended after three books. I just don't care anymore, and everyone is a broken awful mess with no ability to ilicit change in their world

*looks around* I am probably gonna get so much hate for this but Falco from the starfox series
I hate his guts there are times when he is being attack that I don't help him
(slippy is cool though he might not be good at dogfighting but at least he is polite)

I would also like to commit genocide aginst the thalmor from skyrim,
I go out of my way to kill those assholes and then drag their naked corpses to the nearest path and pile them in the middle of it...

not a kill so much as a bitchslap upside the head, but the pokemon diamond and pearl rival npc annoys me
