LOL. To be fair, he was the only character who wasn't sulking, being retarded, or being jailbait. So he was the only one I had sympathy for. The rest can go die in a Purge camp, whatever the fuck that is.

Asides that, Ash Crimson from King Of Fighters. Even after having a reason to steal everyone's flame ability, he was still a douchebag.

I'm guessing you stopped before Knife of Dreams, then.
indeed...
Cadsuane and Rand both have her cowed now, and she's starting to accept it o_O
I don't think there's a single character in the Wheel of Time I could actually say I despise...

but anyway, on topic:

Anime:
-Mai, of Mai Hime... the only thing about her bigger than her tits is her sense of entitlement.

Hollywood:
-Every protagonist in every Hollywood-produced romantic comedy I've ever seen. Especially J-Lo.

Games:
-Final Fantasy characters --4: Edge, Tellah --5: Faris --6: Relm --7: Cloud, Aeris, Yuffie, Cait Sith --8: Selphie, Zell, Rinoa --9: Everyone except Vivi. --10: The entire cast --after 10: haven't played any of 'em.
-Knights of the Old Republic: Bastila. --KotOR II: Handmaiden and Disciple.
-Mass Effect: Ashley Williams. Preachy racist *****... --MEII: Jack, Morinth, Samara and the Illusive Man.

.

I'm sure there are more in every category, but that's all off the top of my head.

im not a fan of her too but not for the same reason, more so that yeah she was totally stuck up but on the other hand she was wholly against the main group of stuck up egos and just wanted to look after the boys.... and then completely abandoned her principles and became one of them anyway.... blarg

hated hope from ff13 as well but come on that shit has to have been intentional....

Anyone hate Riku? Guy was a self rightous prick early on in Kingdom Hearts, oh he did get WAYY better in Chain of Memories, to the point where I vastly prefer his story over Sora's. But In the first game, he was an arrogant punk who pissed me off at every turn, his crowning momement of assholeness was when he STEALS the Keyblade and forces you to fight Heartless with a wooden sword. Yeah, you can use magic, but the vast majority of KH players never use it.

The one character that I DESPISE WITH PASSION is Saphira from Eragon (the series).
That pretentious, annoying, conciousless...... AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! She is one of the PROTAGANISTS! I'm not supposed to hate her more than the villains!

Who do YOU hate?

My list: SAPHIRA!!! - Eragon series.
Junior - The Cleveland Show
The Munchkins - The Venture Brothers (funny though)
Everyone in Twilight
Everyone in 28 Weeks Later
Ron Weasely - Harry Potter movies, (not as much hate as contempt.)
Justin Beiber - you knew it was inevitable.

Also, anyone named after named after elements in nature, like say, "Lightning" or "Fang" or "Cloud" or "Black guy with Afro". Just as examples.
Yes, because the Afro is, indeed, a force of nature. Not kidding.

OT: Aeris, Cole's buddy from InFamous, Rachel from Friends, Jill from Home Improvement, whatever the Brunette's name was from Being John Malcovich, and Tom Bombadil.

Oddly enough, yes, though not intentionally. I bought Crossroads of Twilight when it first came out in 2003, but by the time Knife of Dreams came out in 2005 it completely flew under my radar and I've never gotten around to the last two books. If her demeanor improves though, it's more reason for me to revisit the series. Though being hateable for 10 out of 12 books is not a good track record, and qualifies (in my mind at least) "pretty much the entire series".
Really, she's not even a ***** from book 8-10. She's a flightly, easily distracted chew toy. Disappointing, perhaps, but a different sort of annoying. She's completely shaped up by Towers of Midnight, though.

So is Faile, for that matter. Faile.

I honestly never found any of the non-villainous female characters to be intolerably annoying, but before the whole Shaido incident and its resolution, I wasn't all that fond of her. She was a poster child among poster children for the concept of ethnocentrism, but she's actually mature now.

Sober Thal said:
It sucks only one (13th) book remains.
14th. Towers of Midnight is the 13th.

But yeah, A Memory of Light comes out March 2012. I can't wait.

On topic: Elayne (also from Wheel of Time) is worthless, not sure if anyone is supposed to like her, but God knows I don't.
Thus far, she's been my only disappointment. Moiraine got into my good graces in Fires of Heaven, Egwene and Aviendha have completed their character development, I always liked Birgitte, Verin is fucking awesome, Min's never been annoying (and she's less so now that she has purposes beyond the viewings), Faile has done almost a complete 180 by Towers of Midnight (complete with laughing at how she used to be in The Dragon Reborn), Cadsuane not only got shocked out of complacency but called out for being a ***** (by <color=aliceblue>Tam of all people, which was absolutely glorious), and there are a number of signs of hope for the main female channeling groups. I mean...Teslyn and Joline! Seriously, wasn't expecting that in the last book.

Then there's Elayne. She's probably not as annoying as she's been at points in the past (A Crown of Swords was probably her low point), it's starting to get crammed into her skull that she doesn't necessarily have plot armor, and she's shown a surprising amount of self-reflection in her treatment of Mat, but...could still be better.

...also, I'm not really all that fond of Tuon. She's like Dragon Reborn-era Faile, but genuinely dangerous. >_>

Vanille from FFXIII. Strangely enough, I think that's it.
I like most other characters in games that I'm supposed to, even some that I'm not supposed to.
I concur, though Vannile to me is as if the devils advocate reincarnated himself in hag form. I actually posted in the past that I wanted her in a meat grinder.

Record Stops, I can understand you hating Naruto and Hinata as a generic anime couple, I do too, but I like Hinata as an individual, although she is kind of brushed aside a lot. She at least serves as good comic relief.

Gordon Freeman

Who the hell is he? Why does everyone love him? He has less personality than Keanau Reeves for fuck's sake! The only time I get any information on his character is when it's being delivered in second-hand exposition.

Half-Life 2 is great and all, but Gordon Freeman just might be the absolute most boring part of it all.

Really? I found her to be acting like the actual Aes Sedai ideal by The Gathering Storm (intelligence, calm, advising while not forceful, but still demonstrating her own initiative for the greater good), rather than the arrogant parodies most of the rest embodied.

Also, the way she
calls out her testers after her technically-failed Aes Sedai testing, pointing out that she'd demonstrated the ability to act cool under pressure, and the power to perform the 100 weaves, and that the part she failed at (aiding, fighting alongside, and healing the illusory people during the test, showing that she had other priorities beyond "obey the White Tower entirely") was a crock of shit for an organization dedicated to being the "Servants of All"
shows that she hasn't abandoned her principles at all.

Anakin Skywalker from Star Wars. What an arrogant, whiny, over emotional fool.

OT: I rather liked Saphira I thought she complimented Eragon well, but I'll agree with you on her pretentiousness. And I had no idea "Black guy with Afro" was an element of nature. It would have made Captain Planet a more interesting show. "Earth!" "Fire!" "Water!" "Wind!""Black guy with Afro!"(heart was a lame element)
