Ashley Williams and Miranda Lawson from ME
Zeke and Trish from Infamous
Roman from GTA 4
Louise from Half Life
Prithard from Dues Ex: HR
Silver the hedgehog the Bee from Sonic
Maka from the Legend of Korra
That blond ***** from Uncharted
Trixie from FIM
Harry from his own book series
That girl that keeps trying to get in my pants from Ocorina of Time
The mayor from Twilight Princess
Loki from Fullmetal Alchemist
Kagome from Inuyasha
Present day Trunks from Dragon Ball Z
The police Officer from Big O

Got damn this is long.
Zeke gets a lot better in InFamous 2 if you haven't played it. They start off with the assumption that you think he's a spineless untrustworthy douche bag and work from there. I dare say I even liked him by the end!

I pick Ben Chang from Community. In season 1 and 2 he had his moments, but in season 3 everything he does is just so damn boring and unfunny and he was basically only there to have that story arc where he takes over Greendale.

So we all have those few characters that we just hate with every inch of our body, the ones that we wish and look forward to bad things happening to them. I'm not talking about just badly written characters, I'm talking about characters who's actions, personality and voice just pisses you off. So, what character do you absolutely loath?

Now, I'm gonna get this out of the way. Joffrey from Game of Thrones. I haven't watched season 2 yet so don't say if anything bad happens to him, neither have I read the books. But that little bastard is the most terrible human being ever put on screen. Unlike many of the other villians in the series Joffrey hasn't had to suffer hardships, or go through wars or anything else, he's just a spoilt brat bastard who I hope to god is killed in season 2 or season 3.
Yeah, but you're supposed to hate Joffrey. Pretty much everyone recognises him as a little shit except Cersei because she has the disadvantage of being both his mother and pretty terrible herself. Martin often goes out of his way to emphasise what a douche Joffrey is, so I wouldn't worry about hating him.
For my part I dislike Caitlin Stark. She whines on and on like everything is a personal attack against her. "Oh Rob wants to send me somewhere safe from the war, clearly its because he doesn't like having his mother around. Alas, woe is me." Or, and here's a wild thought, perhaps he genuinely wants you safe since you're some of the closest family he has and one of the few people he trusts? Perhaps it isn't all about you? Perhaps you could try looking at the big picture? Not to mention its her actions that kick off the conflict proper after she kidnaps Tyrion...
Well, the show's work has been done then? I, and many others absolutely hate Joffrey with every bit of our being. Which is intentional, and they're not trying to hide that. I reckon any show with this many characters needs a complete arsehole bastard to contrast to the honourable and good (as in good vs evil) characters. But really, I kind of disagree with your point about Caitlin Stark. Sure she was an arrogant prick at first, but soon she learnt how shitty being an arrogant prick can make your life. She gets literally held hostage with Joffrey, and a dead dad for being an arrogant prick. Joffrey gets to be the bloody king!
Well, as someone who has read the books (sidenote, why do I think fans of the books are in the vast minority here)I absolutely HATE Caitlyn Stark, more so than Cersei even!!! She is stupid, impulsive, irrational and not to spoil anything, but she gets way, way worse!
You mean the dumb thing in a storm of swords or in a feast for crows or both?
Both, but mainly the one in feast. Especially since I loved the Lightning Lord!

Problem is even the Red Wedding (for those of you who haven't read the books, DO NOT LOOK THIS UP!) didn't stop her. She's still being just as impulsive and short-sighted as ever. "Oh, whats that trusted ally from previous books? You're trying to explain yourself to me but can't because my new friends who are weaselly outlaws that I literally just met have you in a noose? No, I don't think I will take the time to listen to you, because I'm Caitlin Stark and my needs override everyone else's la-di-dah-di-dah!"
Damn you woman!

I'll try to avoid characters one is supposed to hate, like Spandam or Umbridge.

Sasuke Uchiha, and anyone who uses the Sharingan fucking eye.
Never mind that he basically lost his motivation and is now going on purely through "raaaaaagh vengeance hate revenge raaaaagh". Never mind that for long stretches of time he basically hijacks the series. No, my big issue is that he (really, the sharingan eye in general, but him in particular) is the fucking embodiment of "New Powers as the Plot Demands" for anime. To the point that the goddamn eye can manipulate space and time and alter reality and AAAAAAAGH IT HURT MY BRAIN, THE BAD WRITING!

The Sentry from Marvel Comics.
I've only read bits and pieces of his existence across a few series, but most of what I've seen, I really haven't liked. I'll just put in one example, the one where he went right into full-on Mary Sue territory.During World War Hulk, an event hyping up that Hulk was the angriest he's ever been, so thus at the strongest he's ever been, Sentry is just sitting in a house the whole time. Then he decides to go outside and fights the Hulk. And he doesn't use any gimmicks or outsmart him. He just fights him in a straight-up fistfight to the point that the Hulk turns back into Bruce Banner. He left his house and in a few pages basically solved everything. Maybe he's better in the rest of his time alive. But that's going to take some work...

I might think of more...
See, what you hate about the Sentry is his entire reason for existence. That's literally what he does. He goes from basically catatonic or an endless angst fest to actually getting forced to go out and do something. And when he does do something, he's essentially unstoppable...unless he gets scared or something then goes and cries on the moon for a week. I think that was an actual plot involving him at one point too. It might've been the sun. He's a very definite Mary Sue, though they try to justify it by him basically being crushed under the weight of his own Sueness. He's Superman with emotional issues.

This. She also took the Brotherhood without Banners, one of the coolest things about the book, and turned them from a band of ragtag vigilantes into criminals because that suited her needs. Also the entire thing with Brienne proves just how narrow-sighted she is and how her anger blinds her pretty much the entire series long!

This guy, right here. He talks sooo much shit when you can't fight him and tries to run a cheap political game. Accumulating allies and aligning himself with the current ruling army. He also kills your best friends sister which in turn corrupts him forever and causes him to become a hardened callous master manipulator.

Then his army loses, his allies turn out to be as weak as he is, then when you finally confront him after his alliance of weaklings crumbles... You kick his ass and then he cries for his mommy. Probably the biggest ph----t in the history of villains.

What makes it even worse is initially you save this guys life, you befriend him! He also told your best friend that he was a commoner and would never amount to anything. Best friend goes on to become the king of the continent. ROFL!

...Pathetic... This guy died the way he lived. Rightfully so. I've never hated a character in a game other than this guy.

Kvothe from the Kingkiller Chronicles. Tragic, since I think that Patrick Rothfuss is a talented writer, but just about everything from that series sickens me. Kvothe is the main source of my hate, though. He is impossibly intelligent, supremely talented, in just about every field of anything, and he has the horrific backstory, exotic lineage and "haunting charisma" that screams Mary Sue. He even becomes a ninja, for God's sake. The only thing in those books that didn't suck for me was Elodin, who I picture as David Tennant's Doctor.

Half the characters Bioware makes are detestable, while the other half appeal to you. It's weird.

due to recent events (as in: playing the game to finish missing paths): the "protagonist" in Katawa Shoujo - he's such a whiny idiot a good part of the time; mostly when he's not busy being a douchey idiot. good god, i he's pissing me off ^^

Liara in ME1 - awwww, i am sooooo cuuuute, you all like me, right? right? right? xoxo, wannabe-interesting NPC-girl <3<3<3 (blargh.)

others are usually just a nuisance at best, or rather, worst; hating fictional characters seems rather pointless, as i cannot punch them in the face, or at least yell at them, or... something. ^^

I didn't care for Glados in Portal, but then again I didn't like the game much anyway.

Demomen in Team Fortress 2 annoy me to no end.

Queen Myrrah in Gears of War 3 because she is one of the 3 characters people play as in multiplayer(same thing for Savage Kantus and Kantus).

Most of Noble team in Halo Reach. Jorge was the coolest one and they killed him off first.

Karren Travis. May she burn for what she did to Halo and Star Wars.
You mean offer different perspectives? I'll admit I'm not a big fan of her Halo work, but she did make the Republic Commando novels flipping awesome, and her work in Gears of War was great.

I don't like the Scout from TF2. I've never liked arrogant people and I never liked the Boston accent. (Sorry people from Boston). On the many hours that I've played on TF2, Scout was used for about 3h of those.

Personally, I find it hard to hate characters. There are characters that seem badly written and I don't like them, but there are only three characters in anything that I've truly felt a negative emotion towards. As with quoted man beneath me, Joffrey from Ice and Fire. He's a **** in the TV seris, and even worse-so in the books. The second is the partner you get in Vice in LA Noire. First character in a game I've hated so much, I actively burned and failed my way through that section of the game simply to get rid of him. The third is Uncle Pauly in The Darkness. He's a massive dick that thinks about nothing but himself. He's like that fuckwad from school. He hits you, so you hit him back. He then acts all high and mighty like you hitting him was unwarranted, unneeded and completely out of the blue as if it were some kind of betrayal.

Fenris from DragonAge2. Holy crap did I hate this guy. First, he was a douche after I saved him simply because I can use magic, and people once did a bad thing while using magic. Stupid logic dude. People do bad stuff with swords, I don't see you hating on everyone with a sword >_>
Secondly, he just stayed in his estate, drinking all the damn time. Going there fucking depressed me. Everyone else in the group were great friends. One time we tried to cheer him up so Hawke gave him a book as a present and holy shit Fenris just flipped his shit being all "What the fuck I can't believe you would give me a present, you're such a douche Hawke =[".
And then finally he took the side of the arcanely menstrual freak running the paladins. It ended up being quite awesome actually, because he became like, a naturally occurring antagonist and the whole process was quite organic and well done. I really like DA2.

I love the series "How I met your mother". It is perfect for me to come home, turn one episode on, eat something and relax until I get to the more challenging stuff and duties. I like nearly all of the characters... except Lilly. Such a ***** that pretends to know everything better but is in most cases just wrong.
This, times one thousand. You'll be sitting there, enjoying the episode and then it's like "Whoa! Pause the jokes everyone Lily has a big long self righteous speech to make."

Fuck >_>

There are so many terrible characters out there, but Sarah...
I figured something out about Alone in the Dark: when the title no longer holds any bearing or meaning, the game drops to its lowest point. I actually enjoyed the long, atmospheric portions where you run through Central Park, the screams of possessed New Yorkers echoing from behind walls of fog and darkness. However, when Sarah is around... ugh. She is the most clearly crowbared in love interest ever, she never actually has much bearing on the plot, and her voice sounds like Jennifer Hale before she went to acting school.

She's the undefeated stupid-character champion of the world. Hold your golden prize dunce hat high.

Honorable Mentions: Roy Earle from L.A. Noire and every single character in Silent Hill: Homecoming.
