I am taking a guess that you have only played Final Fantasy games after 7 as the majority of the characters in 5, 6 and 4 (to an extent) do not fit the archetype at all, especially Cid who is nothing like Han Solo and more of the typical inventor usually.IanDavis said:Pretty much every Final Fantasy character, with the exception of most incarnations of Cid, who's pretty much a FF Han Solo, what with the airship and all.
Winy brats, annoying childish anime cliches, and moppy villains. Ugh.
Hey man, Snake isn't an every man, he's like a "forever young" Kurt Russel. And Frank West has covered wars, you know.xPixelatedx said:That one guy, from that one game. You know who I am talking about... aww heck. They're all the same anyway.

I pray for the day this "every-man" fad dies.
Sorry I mean that human comedy relief character that appear near the start of the series, sometime at the fillers episode and appear again in Aizen arc (yes I'm still too lazy to look up his name). You know the one who claim to be a superhero and make that stupid pose. While he can see ghost too but he doesn't even know what a Shinigami is (but in saying so most of the other support human character don't have a clue either)!dtgenshiken7 said:Gonna need to be waaay more specific.Scarim Coral said:Let see-

I won't expect the Elves to ever forget what was done to them. maybe if the majority of humans weren't dicks to them I would say yeah whatever. Just because one human is helping them doesn't change their entire racial outlook. Its not specific elves being angry at specific humans. Its the elves baring a grudge, the chant was never their religion and it shouldn't be forced on them. Denying it was not stupid or rude it was having integrity and not bowing to a foreign power.Aruezi said:Maybe, but most of that was hundreds, even thousands of years before the events of Dragon Age. What's more if I remember the second Exalted March primarily came about because of their outright refusal to allow the Chant of Light to be practiced within their lands, which was not only stupid, but just plain rude. Well, that and one particularly stupid raiding party gave he Chantry just the excuse they needed. Still, this could have been avoided.VeneratedWulfen93 said:The Dalish have every right to be angry though. They had everything and lost because of humans. I have a soft spot for species fucked over like that like elves and Eldar.Aruezi said:Hah! I felt the same way. Hell, that's the entire reason I always kept Fenris and Merril in my party at all times. Every now and then Merril would start telling Fenris about how sad it is that he didn't get to live with the Dalish and he'd respond by thoroughly insulting them.Uncle Comrade said:Also, I really hated the Dalish and their belligerent attitude. Just because humans screwed over their ancestors they act overly hostile to all humans they see, regardless of said human's intention.
Hawke: Morning Mr Elf. Nice day we're having.
Dalish: Piss off shem! You're not welcome here!
Hawke: o_0
I'm just saying there's no call for them to be as dickish as they are. A little angry? Yes. Somewhat hostile towards outsiders? Perfectly understandable. Having all but a handful of the people in your camp constantly alternate between insulting me, or claiming that they're looking for any possible excuse to kill me? Despite the fact that I've done nothing but try to help them? All over things that happened generations before I was born?
No. No, I'm going to bring along the former slave that endured horrible torture and heartache at the hands of a human mage, fought for his freedom and then proceeded to start a new life in the city without acting like a hateful little prick to every "shem" he comes across (Mages are a different matter though) with me. And he will mock you.
No, I LOVE Republic Commando and her GOW work. It's Legacy Of The Force and Halsey in Grasslands that pisses me off.Soviet Heavy said:You mean offer different perspectives? In the very first sentry series (I believe), it was revealed that at the height of his power, the Sentry's very glowing presence could soothe the Hulk into submission, no fight required. The whole concept was just "Superman but better but also dark and tormented," which was cool for about two seconds until they turned him into some idiot misguided loose cannon who just stonewalled every storyline. Thank fuck he's dead for now. You can't have a good storyline with the Sentry in the other room waiting to kill every hero in about two seconds.Mr. Omega said:The Sentry from Marvel Comics.
I've only read bits and pieces of his existence across a few series, but most of what I've seen, I really haven't liked. I'll just put in one example, the one where he went right into full-on Mary Sue territory.During World War Hulk, an event hyping up that Hulk was the angriest he's ever been, so thus at the strongest he's ever been, Sentry is just sitting in a house the whole time. Then he decides to go outside and fights the Hulk. And he doesn't use any gimmicks or outsmart him. He just fights him in a straight-up fistfight to the point that the Hulk turns back into Bruce Banner. He left his house and in a few pages basically solved everything. Maybe he's better in the rest of his time alive. But that's going to take some work...
Legacy of the Force was a disaster waiting to happen with or without Traviss. The only person who could write a decent story was Aaron Alliston. Traviss and Troy Denning were too busy trying to make the other's pet characters look bad and it was detrimental to the story. Plus Denning turned Tahiri into a pedophile.Gone Rampant said:No, I LOVE Republic Commando and her GOW work. I can accept that they'd be angry, and hold a grudge, but they seemed to make holding that grudge their entire reason for existence. I have more respect for the city elves, who are in arguably a much worse position (forced to live in slums, treated as second class citizens) but at least try and knuckle down and get on with their lives, taking comfort in their traditions and strong sense of community.VeneratedWulfen93 said:I won't expect the Elves to ever forget what was done to them. maybe if the majority of humans weren't dicks to them I would say yeah whatever.
