Characters you hate

I'm curious to see any characters you Escapists truly loath. Be they from literature, cinema, or electronic media (fancy/pretentious term for video games).

Is there any character that nearly ruined a book or entire series? Anyone you despise with the white hot passion of a super nova? (Let's not let this degenerate into Jar-Jar or Twilight bashing please)



#1 for me is Novinha from the Ender series. Her bitchy, selfish, narrow minded, illogical, brash, stubborn actions nearly caused the xenocide of 2 species and the destruction of an entire planet. Enders unflappable devotion to her shocked and saddened me. For such a brilliant and interesting character to pare up with a bi-polar dolt is beyond me.

Likewise, Dolores Umbridge. I've always hated the sickly sweet yet nefarious characters. She takes that and ramps it up to 150% with a dash of sadist. Someone who should have been knifed the halls.

Pam and Jim from The Office are also wearing out their welcome. The producers seem to focus too much on them even WELL after their characters have arced, while ignoring the potential Creed has (my favorite character).

Any thoughts or conjectures?

Yeah, bashing JarJar and Twilight would be redundant now.

I just watched the first 4 episodes of Power Rangers Mystic Force, and I hate these kids. Nick's an asshole, Xander's a prick, Chip's a dork, Vida's a *****, and Madison's invisible! None of these characters give off any sense of nobility or heroism that a good chunk of the previous teams had.

Even though I liked the game Sin and Punishment Star sucessor, the characters were the definition of unlikable. And to save time, The only character I DIDN'T hate in Final Fantasy 7 was Tifa.

Not sure I'd say I loathe her, but Zoey from Left 4 Dead gets on my wick sometimes.
Dude. Zombie apocalypse. We don't need corny jokes right now.

Switching from mainstream into pretty vague, Springheeled Jack from Skulduggery Pleasant annoys me.
I know he's a bad guy so we're meant to dislike him from the get go, but his only real motive is to be a big wanker towards Tanith and the rest of the do-gooders we get to know and love.
Heck, even Scapegrace has a revenge thing going on. Jack's just a jerk in a top hat.

Tenchi from Tenchi Muyo.

I love everyone in that series except for him.

I hated Raiden at first, but by the end of all that Patriots shit in MGS2 I almost felt bad for him. So my vote goes to his stupid, whiny, girlfriend.

Rodrigo Borgia. He is entirely one dimensional.

Still can't go through the game without shooting him.
Just obnoxious.

Lord Garithos form WarCraft 3: Frozen Throne.

The man was a total racist towards all the other races and only trusted his fellow humans. Even when hes was possessed his racism was still there. At least the bastard died near the end.

When people talk about LOTR, they usually say how sorry they felt for Boromir. I've never understood this. He is probably the character I've disliked the most out of the entire trilogy. Bastard's a traitor, doesn't listen to sense and acted like a jackass for most of the film.

Points go to Moriarty from Fallout 3 as well. He's one of the two non-hostile NPCs I never feel bad for killing.

Seth from the most recent Street Fighter. What a completely boring character in every sense. I was disappointed during my first arcade run through, at what I was seeing when I finally got to the end. Bison is a pretty interesting villain, so to go from someone like him to this easily forgettable character was a let down. I didn't feel like it was a fitting end.

Midna.

That horrific little lolidemon was a gremlin sent to plague me from the lowest bowels of hell. Sure, the game TRIED to redeem her...but she was still a disgusting little wretch that made me rage so violently as to start almost literally frothing at the mouth.

I've never met so detestable a character.

Mina from Code Geass is easily the worst character of all time.

Arl Howe from Dragon Age was annoying and I was glad I got to kill him.

Peter Molyneux. He's full of himself and bad ideas. He talks way to much in interviews and easily gets hung up on one thing so much that he misses the big picture.

He is so annoying that whenever I see him I just want to kick his clown-shod ass from here to eternity
