All of them - what's the point in hating a dead man? Unless they come back to life later, but let's not go there.

... Does Fi ever die? Because that might be the most annoying piece of flow interuppting-
Okay, let's not go there.

Well I guess in that case:

I was very surprised, but
Udina. I disliked him in ME, hated him with a passion in ME2. Finally capped him in ME3 only to no longer see him as a douche, but as a misguided fool, who thought that Cerberus had a better chance to save the galaxy.

Miranda. Didn't 100% hate her, but on my first playthrough she personified everything that was wrong with Cerberus. I took Jack's side in their fight and didn't have enough Paragon/Renegade points to make peace with her before the final mission. Then she took my side against the Illusive Man :(

She is now my best friend after Garrus and Wrex on all playthroughs and is given anything she points at.

Baron Praxis. Hated him until he went out like a boss, trying to take as many Metal Heads with him as possible.

Darth Malak. Feel sad for the dude, he even said that it could have easily been Revan instead of him.

You know, I went into Mass Effect knowing that I was going to lose someone.
After much consideration, I decided it was going to be Ash, because she is the worst character on the team.
So when Virmire came around I was geared up to watch Ash take the bullet for the team, and quietly salute her for it.
Then she killed Wrex.
I laughed like an evil genius when I left her to die.
Moral of the story: I disliked her before Virmire, but I absolutely loathed her afterwards.

Aside from that, I tend to stick with my opinions about characters, regardless of whether or not they shuffle off their mortal coil by the end.

For me, Joffrey Baratheon from A Song of Ice and Fire. I hated him with a passion when he was around and was so satisfied when he died, then... nothing. He was gone, the story moved on and Tommen took the throne, but Cersei was really in control this time. I realised how much I missed Joffrey, or more accurately his actions. Of course I hated him and what he did but he was interesting and did things. As soon as he was gone Cersei took centre stage at Kings Landing and Feast for Crows was essentially a one woman show of her screwing up everything she touches. I miss that blonde haired jerk.

That oh-so intolerant character that has her bum firmly stuck on the high horse for the majorirty of SW:KOTOR. From the moment you meet her, she says she didn't need your help when she clearly does! Also, she possesses a force power called Batlle Meditation, which tilts the outcome of big fleet battles. Which is her main excuse for most of the game for her behavior. And just when you think she starts to mellow out and becomes slightly likeable, BAM! Off to the darkside she goes, way to ressist it like a true jedi *sarcasm*. (Note: You can choose to either yank her back to the light side or let her die by your hand near the end of the game, which felt like a fitting revenge, finally putting the smash on that annoying bum)

I may have been to harsh, but If you play through that game you'll know my gripes with her. Btw it's an awesome oldie rpg if you like SW games in the 2004-2006 range.
I'm just quoting you all to point out that the spoiler box isn't worth a whole lot if the person clicking it doesn't know what game's spoilers are contained within before they click it, lol.

Let's just say I did not trust her replacement.

Pigsy. He was more than a little creepy, especially the way he kept trying to win Trip over. But his final selfless act of sacrifice made him one of my favourite characters in gaming.
I'll third this, I thought he was an absolutely repugnant character (in an amusing way). But at the end, I almost shed a tear for the guy. It's a remarkable sacrifice on his part.

As soon as i saw thread title i immediately thought [SNIP] from walking dead xD

Goddamnit im not a special snowflake...

Otherwise Saren from first mass effect, fuck kai leng (in his case, i still hate him after his death).
And that answer was said too, which goes to show how well written those 2 characters were ^^
I was going to immediately bail on this thread, but everyone was so effective with their spoiler tags that I actually thought I'd make it through while being behind in that show.

Then you came along.

Anyway, OT:
Doubt this needed a spoiler tag, but Boromir. At least in the films, it's been too long since I read the books. Boromir is just kind of a dick, obviously inferior to Aragorn in skill, personality, AND willpower, and gets nowhere near the camera attention that the other fellowship members do.

Then he gets shot full of arrows and dies, and it's so powerful that I'll never forget that scene for the rest of my life. I'd say it was the best scene in the movie, except that Gandalf's "You shall not pass!" narrowly wins.

Handsome Jack. I felt a bit upset putting him down. He's a dictator who deified himself, yes, but he deluded himself to that point. Its really quite sad, because he honestly thinks that despite all of what he says, despite all of what he's done, that he's a good guy. He went out a completely broken man. Something about that makes me think that maybe his daughter did mean something to him, and that with her gone so did any semblance of reality.
I never felt that way.
I always got the impression that Jack was just trying to screw with the good guys whenever he acted sympathetic, like with Angel, or whenever he refers to himself as the good guy, and the Vault Hunters as the bad guys. He doesn't actually think that's the case, he's just screwing with you, and I'm pretty sure that's stated explicitly in the game

OT:
While I never really "Hated" the Darkling, I was a bit miffed that he'd replaced the multiple Darklings with varied powers. Then he died helping Jackie escape the Asylum. Thanks little guy...

Shinji is my answer. That little revelation before his death really shed some light on his life.

He always seemed like the kind of guy that just wanted to keep to himself and be an asshole to his friends.

But then, I found out that the only reason he was secluding himself from the others was so that if his Persona were to freak out and lose control again, it wouldn't hurt/kill someone, like it did with Ken's mother. Because of that incident, he started taking pills to suppress his Persona so that it wouldn't lost control and do harm to another human being again.

And you can still see that he cared for other people, even though he was still an asshole. The reason he took the bullet for Ken was his way of saying "Sorry I took your loved one."

He was a really misunderstood character. And even though I never used him in combat, I still missed him through the game. Hearing his voice during the afterlife made me choke up a bit.

The Walking Dead

Lee. Am I the only one that hated this guy? You're in a zombie apocalypse, I don't think this is the time to casually walk around looking for stuff! But then he had to go and do that.

I never had a problem with Ben. I figured that he did what he did for the group. When he told me to drop him, I obliged, and then saluted his sacrifice.

Maybe say what you're spoiling (it's Game of Thrones in case anyone else is about to fall into the trap). The TV series is way behind the books, so some of us don't know who bites the dust yet.
Was ging to say that, luckily I realized what the show was before I saw any names.

Metal Gear Solid

Psycho Mantis, I don't know how to describe what I mean, but that character, it made me feel a bit of regret killing him. He even does you a little favor before he passes.

Gears of War 3

Dominic Santiago. I wouldn't say I actually hated him, but I just constantly made fun of him for almost the entire 3rd game. Giving him nicknames like EmoBeard and such...But after that scene...Man...I never made of him again T_T

Deus Ex: Human Revolution

I'm not sure if this one actually counts because he didn't actually die, but I'd just like to mention that for the entire game I absolutely hated Hugh Darrow..Until I confronted him and tried to persuade him to stop..He just seemed so terrified I couldn't help but feel sorry for the guy

Tends not to happen with me, not with games at least.

In Lost, the TV series - I hated Ethan until he died, then they show back story etc, and now I just think it's a shame.

Now, if your talking about game characters who you'd wish would just die, but refuse to, then I'd have a lot more to say!
