Characters you like that everyone else seems to hate

Obviously we all have our own personal reasons for liking/disliking certain characters in games. My question is, what character do you actually really like, that everyone else seems to utterly despise?

I'll start off with proudly declaring that I actually really like Hope from Final Fantasy 13!

I really like sub-zero, i always beat my friends down with him, so they call it sub-zero skill.

I wasn't bothered at all by Vaan in FFXII.

His under-dressing was ridiculous though.

I was never really bothered by Aerie in Bladur's Gate 2. Wouldn't say I particularly liked her, but I didn't particularly dislike her either. I'd certainly take her over Anomen anyway.
Never understood the hate for Ashley and Kaiden in Mass Effect either. Yeah, they were a little on the bland side at times but they weren't bad characters.

I've seen a lot of hate against Allistair in Dragon Age, but I found his lame jokes oddly amusing.

I liked Snow from FF 13. I know he likes to remind everyone that he's the hero and the hero never loses but I just found him to be pretty likable really, although I only ever use him gameplay wise when I need a tank to take the damage.

Infact I could probably say this for most of the FF 13 cast as alot of people don't rate them highly but I just really liked them in the end.

And so many others that I don't get the hate of.

Shinji - Neon Genesis Evangellion

The reason I hear most often for why people hate him is what made him an interesting character for me.

I'm just inviting pain and suffering for this post, but...

Kaidan Alenko. He's one of my favorite characters of the ME trilogy, if not my favorite.

You may think he's whiny/annoying/whatever, but I really like him as a character. That doesn't mean I didn't like the other characters, just nowhere near as much as Kaidan. It probably helps that Bioware only shows a character's full potential with romance, and I've only romanced two chicks in a Bioware game: Ash and Morrigan.

I share this one too. While my brother was raging that they didn't let you play as Snake, I was more than happy to play as Raiden. I found him cool. I actually found Raiden cooler than Solid Snake...then again I did turn out to be a blonde girly-boy, so read into that what you will.

I liked the main girl from x-blades(I think it was Ayumi), and not because of the outfit or anything god no she was a awful character. But her attitude was fun to listen to (she sounded like lara craft from the valley).

I'm not too sure but I don't think most people liked Bastila from KOTOR very much...

I for one loved her smugness.

Canas from Fire Emblem.

Almost everyone i know either REALLY dislikes him or just doesn't care about him.

I love him.
His Class/Design is cool, his stats are really great(for me at least), and his story/character is cool and sad.
He is usually apart of my Army's Backbone whenever i play.

I liked Penelo just fine in Final Fantasy 12, and while I can't say I particularly like Kaidan Alenko, I certainly don't hate him.

Also, ThreeDog from Fallout 3 is a good character with real presence.

I don't particularly like her, but I didn't have a single problem with Ashley from Resident Evil 4.
On my first play through, I was ready to get annoyed out of my mind the moment I found her like what my friends, critics, and random people on the internet told me I'd be. But I honestly wasn't annoyed, pestered, or whatever by Ashley's presence. Okay (like everyone else in the game) she did have a few lines of dialog that made want to slap the back side of her head, but she really didn't hinder the gameplay at all for me.
