Aerie from Baldur's Gate 2. Somehow the consensus became that her whining and mediocre character build made her worse than the other healers (who, other than Cernd, were just verbally abusive and various ranges of useless). I liked Aerie.

Jack from Mass Effect 2, most people just dismiss her as a *****, but she was one of my favorite party members in the game.
I liked Tidus. I could see what they were trying to do with him as a character. I do think that some things got lost in translation though.

1) Alister from Dragon Age (His jokes didn't seem as grating as people build them up to be and considering for the most of the game the other males in my party were either brooding or speaking in stereotype, Alister was a good fraternal companion)
2) Rochelle from Left 4 Dead 2 (I know she's not hot like Zoey is, but she was a decent character and a Depeche Mode fan, so she can't be all bad)
3) Waluigi from the Mario Bros. Series (I know hes kind of an anti-Luigi cash-in, but I managed to kick ass with him at Tennis, Racing, and Party games, plus he's tall and slim-built like me)

Maybe it's a per game variation? I don't know. All I know is, whenever the proverbial "sh#t" has hit the fan, Nick always just stands there watching people get pounced/pulled/jocked/charged and does nothing about it until they're downed. As for Fuuka and Rise the only thing I can think of is that you have to listen to them over the course of the game and to be frank Fuuka doesn't have the best voice actor.

For some reason, I thought Nathan Drake wasn't that bad of a character. I laughed at some of his smirky one-liners, but Yahtzee's review of Uncharted and Uncharted 2 completely rips him open. Sure, he's a pompous asshat, who spends his time shooting people who aren't white, but give him some love!

I like Nero from DMC4. People always seem to call him lame and a pathetic knock-off of Dante. And yes, he does look and fight similar to Dante, but...
maybe it's because I only came into the DMC franchise at 4, but I prefer Nero to Dante. that being said, Dante's first entrance in the game was thoroughly badass.

Seconded. Laguna is my favourite character in VIII, but Squall was hardly the whiney little emo everyone makes him out to be. The guy is a god damned badass no matter which way you look at it. Sure, he doesn't like having a whole bunch of responsibility put on him out of nowhere (who would, I mean, he went from being a rookie to being in charge of a freaking military branch overnight) and he's got abandonment issues because the person he considered his only family seemingly up and walked out (pretty normal) but when shit gets real he always mans up and becomes an ice cold level headed tactical killing machine.Wayneguard said:
