Characters you liked that seem to have universal hatred

There are some characters who just seem to piss everyone off. But what about the ones you like?
Personally, I like Navi. She gets unnecessary flak and people always overlook Ezlo from Minish Cap.

Alex Mercer. Most people seem dislike him, but I thought he was awesome.
Hmm, now I feel like playing Prototype again...

Hope, Vanille, Lightning from FF XIII
Tidus, Yuna, Rikku from FF X.
Paine from FF X-2.

Most of them are pretty hated for being whiny emo douchebags but when you think about it, most of them have a damn good reason to be such. As for the others who aren't whiny emo douchebags, I just like them, OK? XD

I second Navi, I don't get why people harp on her. "Hey Listen!" has become a nostalgic sound to me now

But my choice would be Isaac Clark, because I just finished Dead Space 2 and was really blown away by how well they implemented the character. Everyone calls him generic but I don't see it.

I also second Raiden. I love Snake but Raiden was cool too

Teddie from Persona 4.
I never found him annoying, I thought he was down right adorable. His cheesy jokes always made me grin. Perhaps he gets a bit irritating since you have to listen to his during every battle at the start, but he has absolutely NOTHING on Risette's horrific squeal of a voice.

I really liked Squall from Final Fantasy VIII, but a lot of people seem to hate both him and the game a lot. It has been such a long time since I played that game that I don't really know why I liked him that much, but it is probably because I identified with him.

Irvine, from FFVIII. I liked having a character that wasn't a whining emo, and was more happy-go-lucky without being a ditz about it.

Irvine was the only character in that game that I liked at all.

Well, I know Shadow the Hedgehog isn't well-liked, but I kinda got attached to him when I went throught my emo phase (shudder).

Kaiden. Most people seem to think he's obnoxious and emo, but to me he has no personality. Maybe his voice actor just didn't try very hard to emote or whatever. Even on Horizon he didn't sound like there was much to him. I'd never take him over Wrex, Garrus, or Tali but I didn't hate him

Anyway, when in Mass Effect 2 I was chatting to my friends saying about our squads. My squad always ALWAYS included Miranda and Thane. Everyone always turned and looked at me as if I'd just baked their puppy though, "Miranda? She was a cow!" and while true she's not the best female character I've ever met, suffering a bit of the multiple personality disorder Trip did in Enslaved, I still love how I had this annoying soldier Jacob following me in the beginning wanting to lick my feet at every given moment and as soon as the traitor was obvious I just wanted to shoot them but NO Jacob thought that was uncivilised. Then BAM Miranda showed up and I honestly went, "THANK YOU, getinmahpants..." and then realised later she could get in my pants...but I swear that's not the only reason...

Anyway, Miranda, Mass Effect 2...you heard nothing else...

I liked him! He was funny! I don't understand how people can love basically every other alien in the Star Wars franchise but hate Jar Jar.

I don't see where the hate comes from. Seriously. Can someone explain?
If people actually listened to her dialog, she has more funny lines and decent zingers than Ellis, Nick, or Coach.

Apparantly the entire cast - Dragon Age: Origins and Awakening
Raiden and Rose - MGS2, though I did start to dislike rose in 4 a little.
Jar Jar and Anakin - SW Ep1, I just didn't hate them.

I'm gonna cut it short here, suffice to saay if a charecteer is universily despised I probebly won't see why.

I think it may be that she simply isn't Zoey.
I hate her for an entirely different reason though, Whrnever the AI fucks up badly enough to get us all killed it's ALWAYS Rochelle.
I Don't get it, the AI is definatly worse in 2, but why did they program Rochelle to activly undermine our efforts?

I've heard that reason from people as well. That somehow her AI scripts are "worse".

However, I always ask people this, "When you play with fewer than 4 people, who usually ends up being the bot? Rochelle? Gee, I wonder then why you always seem to think she has the worst AI. It couldn't possibly be because you see her as the bot more often."

I know it's not always the case, but I've seen it way too often. In my case, Ellis is always the one that f#cks up my teams efforts.
