Wasn't Din one of the Oracles (seasons I think, no I haven't finished so she may end up being a goddess). And if she's a goddess how come she turns up looking for a house in Minish cap?

Because they are just characters named after the gods, Ocarina of Time tells the story of how Hyrule was formed.

So far, all of my choices have been selected in this thread except for one:

Sephiroth. I feel that now that once he was created every single villain suddenly needed to be exactly like him. The fanboys that praise him sing nothing worth hearing as his character is nothing fantastic at all. This poster feels that it would have been better if Sephiroth was one of those villains you kill off half way through the game leading to the revelation of a much more dangerous foe (Jenova).

This! I hate Sephiroth. Sephiroth was a pathetic villain, he spent most of Final Fantasy VII frozen in an ice cube. You can try and argue, but the real Sephiroth spent almost the entire game frozen in an ice cube at the north pole.

Oh also Tingle. I know someone said it already, but it deserves another mention.

As for fictional characters: Pretty much everyone from Final Fantasy 7, I must say. They're the reason I stopped playing the game. And the deagle from Counter-Strike. Again, the reason I stopped playing.
PS: Don't even ask, that gun IS a character. A malicious evil bastard risen from hell to make my Online-FPS-gaming life turn to shit. Until Left 4 Dead came - haha > late victory.
