So, I was browsing around Youtube, and I started watching videos on superhero/villain origins in comic books. And I wondered to myself "Huh, I wonder how THAT character would work in the MCU".

So here we are. What characters that HAVEN'T already appeared in some capacity in the MCU would you like to see on the big screen? A few points though:

1. No X-Men, Spider-Man, or Fantastic Four in there. If there's legal red tape preventing a character from appearing, don't bother to list them. This also extends to any characters RELATED to these guys (like Venom, Galactus, etc.).

2. Don't bother to list anyone we know for a FACT is going to appear, due to them already having movies green-lit (Dr. Strange, Ant-Man, etc.).

With that out of the way, here are my picks:

MODOK

She-Hulk

Squirrel Girl

What about the rest of you?

The Runaways. They actually entered pre-production for a Runaways movie, but that seems to be put on hold indefinitely to focus on the Avengers line. Plus, the way the comic crashed and burned after Vaughn and Whedon left probably decreased the chances of ever seeing one. Bummer.

Squirrel Girl would be just fantastic. She wouldn't even be the strangest character in the cinematic universe anymore either after Groot and Rocket broke the goofy-silver-agey-weirdness barrier.

Squirrel Girl.

I think she'd best be used as either after credits stinger material, or as a replacement for the SHIELD DVD/Bluray special features. She could be used after Thanatos has been dealt with, and he could be her first victim!

Guardian and Vindicator. They're basically Canada's Captain America leading Alpha Flight, Canada's Avengers. Them leading Alpha Flight in battle would a very good movie make (hell, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has shown that Roxxon exists, so we have an antagonist). They'd be great for either a movie, or an off line lower budget movie on the line of 20-50 million dollars released in the lull between blockbusters.

Well She-Hulk is my favorite comic character so of course I'd like to see her, but I actually think she'd work best closer along the lines of what they're doing with the Netflix heroes. She'd work better in a series of interesting legal cases set in the MCU than an actual movie. Still, MCU is MCU.

Alpha Flight has also already been said so I'll skip that, but I will add that Nathan Fillion should TOTALLY play Guardian. I mean he was BORN for that role.

Taskmaster. This guy is one of my all time favorite characters in Marvel. Kick-ass mercenary, cool look, cool power, and great dialogue.

Hit-Monkey. Yeah, I know, never gonna happen (unless AoS likes my spec script...) but he's a monkey assassin who kills killers. He wears a suit and shoots guns with his feet! I can't NOT want him to show up down the line

Man-Thing. His wife has already appeared in a movie, a big part of his character was like the main focus of Thor 2, some of his best known allies have shown up, and he's even been mentioned by name in Agents of SHIELD. Just let him appear already. Send the AoS down to Florida for an episode and lets just see who truly knows fear...

The Winter Guard. For those who don't know who this is, these are basically the Russian Avengers. Usually lead by Red Guardian and accompanied by Darkstar, Ursa Major, and Crimson Dynamo. Much like Guardians of the Galaxy, and Alpha Flight, these guys could be a great team dynamic tearing it up in their own movie to defend Mother Russia.

-Venom, a real Venom too. Not that fucking thing we saw in Spider Man 3.

-Gambit, come on! He's just fucking awesome.

-Galactus, again, The Silver Surfer version doesn't count either. Galactus isn't a fucking storm cloud.

-Moon Knight, what can I say? I'm just a big fan of his.

-Skaar, he's like The Hulk... only more awesome.

I'm sure I have some others I could think of. Maybe some more villains... wait a second. I forgot my number one pick.

He's like Venom meets Spider Man and creates a total fucking badass. If a new Spider Man movie had him in it, I would see it day one.

Along with my hoping they don't mess up Doctor Strange, I hope they don't mess up Clea. Keep their classic origin stories[footnote]To a reasonable extent. Obviously Strange is probably not going to go to Tibet to meet the Ancient One these days. And the whole "white man becomes the greatest master of mysterious eastern lore, because of course he does" thing will have to be toned down. Honestly it might be better to just make Strange asian himself. Though you'd have to come up with a reason for him having a very un-asian last name.[/footnote]. Don't mess with the mythology like we saw with Straczynski's "re-imagining" which boiled down to a Matrix ripoff. Or Brian K. Vaughan's self-parody of Strange in "The Oath".

Looks like I get to be the first to say:

Ms. Marvel!

(I don't remember her having a green lit movie yet, but if I'm wrong, then let me know, because that would be awesome).

Also, I will be the nth to say Squirrel Girl. ^^

I don't know about the others but the movie rights to Venom are owned by Sony, same as Fox owns the rights to Gambit and Galactus.

Ignoring copyright issues I would love to see a good Gambit or Deadpool in the MCU.

How the hell did I forget Deadpool? He's one of my favorite heroes. Man, I'm off my game today. He's a smart ass with samurai swords, Any movie with that would be awesome.

How did I miss her too? She has cosmic powers! A movie with her would be awesome. She could team up with NOVA or the Guardians. Kick Thanos's purple ass back to Titan.

Carnage is part of the Spider Man universe, so they'd have him too.

I'm not sure if you could explain why, but why are all of the Marvel heroes divided among companies? Shouldn't only one company own the rights to Marvel's IP?

I don't know why they did it, but Marvel Studios licensed the Spider-Man movie rights to Columbia (which is owned by Sony) in 1999, which enabled Sony to get the ball rolling on the costumed superhero "new wave" with Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy. As you may have heard, if enough time passes between movies, the rights revert back to Marvel Studios. This is why Sony quickly rebooted the franchise in 2012, a mere 6 years after Raimi's last movie.

Likewise Marvel Studios licensed the Hulk movie rights to Universal Studios once upon a time. But unlike the Spider-Man movies, Ang Lee's Hulk bombed and Universal decided to sell the rights back. Marvel quickly rebooted the character in 2008's The Incredible Hulk, so that Bruce Banner could be legitimately slipped into The Avengers.

Then there's Fox, which owns the rights to X-Men movies and hasn't rebooted the series in 15 years, largely thanks to prequel movies like Wolverine: Origins and X-Men: First Class, and spin-offs like The Wolverine. Actually I think they've handled the series rather well with X-Men: Days of Future Past. Thanks to time travel shenanigans, the series has been rebooted in-universe, the actor roster has been rejuvenated and they've bought themselves a good many more years without having to do something as pathetic as Sony's Spidey reboot.

There're also a couple of characters like Namor and Man-Thing that are owned by this or that studio. Every other Marvel character is owned by Marvel Studios - which has 100% TV rights for every character, by the way, both live or animated. The whole IP partitioning strictly applies to movies.

Anyway, as to the reasons why Marvel Studios would license these many IPs, I think it's because they didn't have much producing power until Disney bought Marvel Entertainment in 2009 (probably because Iron Man had done so well at the box office).

I'd say Deadpool, but Fox owns the rights for his big-screen appearance (I think), so I'll go with Luke Cage and She-Hulk.

The characters the poster above me said. I don't need to check which ones it is, because I can promise you that no matter which character it is, I'll be glad to see them on the silver screen.

It was, and it was actually doing pretty well. But the last two writers to take over (Terry Moore and Kathyrn Immomen) pretty much killed the series, and it got cancelled. Now the characters are pretty much scattered over several titles, so bringing it back together is probably not going to happen.

Now I'm not a comic book reader, so my only experience with her is through the Avengers Assemble cartoon. But god damn, she was great! Her and Ant-Man were my favourite Avengers in that cartoon along with Captain America, I would love to see her on the big screen.

Sadly based on what I've heard about the Ant-Man movie that isn't going to happen. Even if we do get a Wasp it's probably not going to be Janet (since Hank is older and not actually Ant-Man anymore).

I'd quite like She-Hulk to replace Bruce in one of the Hulk movies, assuming they eventually go for a Trillogy like the other films. Like, the final film could involve Banner having to do the blood transfusion, and ends up making her the Hulk while removing his own Hulk transformation, so she can replace him in the Avengers. They seem to be setting up for a complete team change in the final Avengers movie anyways. Though if she's going to be related to Banner she'd have to be introduced in the second film, and that could seem a bit odd considering her lack of a mention in the first.
