Killing a main character is in my mind a great toil for preventing sequels. It is direct forceful and helps to add closer to a dark story. Artist frequently miss out on using this tool when they should.

I have a question then. Is there a character that you think should have died at the end of there story, but didn't? My is that Harry Potter should have died at the end of his story, and was so disappointed when he didn't.

Master Chief
He does die at the end of Halo 3. Doesn't he?
Thats to be debated because on legendary he doesn't even though legendary endings are suppose to non cannon but pretty much every fan swears hes alive because of that ending.

All the marvel and DC characters. They came to life so many times that there is no emotion left in the stories. The authors should have offed then and progressed to new stuff.

its not death, but at the end of ff13 everyone fullfills their focus and turn to crystal, for 3 FREAKING MINUTES! seriously everything they built in that game indicated, they would turn to crystal for hundreds of years at least, but could possibly come back, free(ish) of their focus. But NOOO, Enix just had to have a happy ending, with no real consequence for the characters actions (that we saw) everyone was just super and went to live in 50's suburbia.

Nines. No way he survived that werewolf attack.
Whats this from? I know I know the name Nines.
Nines Rodriguez is the leader of the Anarchs, one of the three factions vying for control of the LA area in Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines.

After being sent to a meeting in a park by the "Prince" of the city, both you and Nines are beset by Werewolves. Nines is tackled and the player basically begins running for their lives. The Werewolf is all but invincible as no amount of firepower (normal or supernatural) can take it down and even with the protection the game can afford (heavy leather armor, full applicable physical scores and so forth), the werewolf handily takes huge chunks out of your health. It is possible for the player to kill the werewolf assigned to him by closing a very heavy door as it attempts to pass. Otherwise, you simply have to evade the creature until a train arrives that will take you away.

After this point, the Prince that sent you to talk to Nines assumes you are in league with the Anarchs (who have been implicated in the death of an important community member) and calls a blood hunt (basically all the other vampires try and kill you) on you. It is assumed that Nines died. If you survive the blood hunt, you make a final decision of who you side with: Yourself, the Anarchs, the Camarilla, the Prince or the (whatever the name of the asian vampires were). If you choose the Anarchs ending, you find Nines is still alive (though pretty badly beaten up) and in possession of the head of a Werewolf. If you choose independent ending, Nines arrives to congratulate the player who then flips him the bird while walking by.

I bought the game when it came out (2004) and just played it two weeks ago (for the first time ever). I'd say it is most similar to Deus Ex. In fact, it was basically the game I wanted Deus Ex: Invisible War to be. It's a solid (if a bit buggy and janky in places) game that often offers many different solutions to a problem depending upon clan choices and how you parcel out your experience. I played as a Tremere so I mostly resolved problems with blood magic and bullets as they seemed to mesh well.

It looks like it is available on Steam for 20 bucks which I'd say is a fair price all told. The game took me about 20 hours to beat and I could see playing it at least one more time to try a different build.

Rico should have died instead of Razek in the Starship Troopers CG cartoon. The older soldiers were just much more likeable/worth something than the young trio (Rico, Dizzy and Higgins......eh maybe not Higgins).
