So latley i really want to get a fighting game. I have always been really bad at them, but always wanted to try and improve so that I could bust out all those cool moves the characters have.

So I was wondering what good 2D fighting games the 360 has? Im not a huge fan of 3D fighting games, like Dead or Alive but enjoy the cartoony 2D of street fighter. I have been looking at Marvel vs. Capcom for awhile but im not sure. Also the new Street Fighter turbo looks pretty sweet and I did like those as a kid. so thats why Im asking you fellow Escapists..

What is a good 2d style fighting for the 360 that you would recommend?

One of the later Guilty Gear games. I think Guilty Gear X2 Reloaded or X2 Slash were released for the 360...or maybe that was the original. Does the 360 have backwards compatibility?

EDIT: It's Reloaded. Slash was apparently PS2 exclusive, and Accent Core was PS2 and Wii.

There's some really good ones in the Arcade:

Marvel vs Capcom 2
Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix
Garou: Mark of the Wolves
Guilty Gear X2 Sharp Reload(Xbox Original)

It is backwards compatible but only select games. There is a pretty good sized list though. Also for some of them you need to be able to download an update to play them.

I am required to recommend Blazblue: Calamity Trigger. It's a highly polished HD 2D fighter by the guys that made Guilty Gear. There's 12 characters but each plays completely differently than any other. best fighting game ever released IMO. And it's only around $30 now.

Here's IGN's review to inform your decision.

2nded altho its still full price pretty much but the limited edition if you can still get it is awsome and includes a dvd that gives you all sorts of play strategies

Last week when I went to Gamestop they had it marked down to $30. It's at half price now. Even though it's not Limited that's a damn good deal IMO.

naruto and dragon ball z series are pretty cheap after a while.

That, however, is because they are bad.

I would suggest either MVC2 or SSF2HDR

they're both excellent and about 15 bucks
