All the time.

President Eden's voice makes me hot, so definitely him, not so much the enclave soldiers though, I don't like power armour.

The Turrets in Portal were adorable, I tried to keep them alive when possible.

The enemies in Assassins creed, all of them. If only because Altair is a whiny ***** and I want him to die.

Team Rocket. I love team rocket. One day I hope they get that Pikachu.

Stormtroopers, Tie Fighters and AT-ATs are awesome, so definitely the empire.

Oh, and Swiper. Swiper no swiping indeed. One day soon... That Dora will pay for her cruelty...

I rooted for the metrocops in Half life 2. I liked them, they weren't big jerks like the soldiers and Elits. Plus they were actually human.

The turrets in Portal were pretty sweet, I want one if my own.
But instead of bullets they shoot bacon and Vanilla Coke.

I haven't played Mirror's Edge yet but from what I hear the government you're rebelling against hasn't done anything particularly evil besides creating a peaceful, crime-free, efficient society living in a beautiful city and fighting people who rebel against them. In that case, I'd much rather be a police officer or government official on their side than some whiny people rebelling against society because they're bored running on buildings and disrupting society for no good reason and living half their lives in some shitty Esurance reject commercials.

Besides that, the empire in Star Wars is cool obviously, and in Saints Row 2 you go around fucking up all the gangs around you and Ultor (who I liken to the government in Mirror's Edge) just because you're some sadistic greedy bastard who's out to control the entire city and slaughter thousands of people along the way.

Seriously, Ultor was badass, I'd much rather be with them. They had badass SWAT teams, trucks, and helicopters, made some badass looking buildings, and made Stilwater beautiful, peaceful, and orderly. The other gangs were pretty cool too, unlike in the first Saints Row. Too good to be enemies.

Also, in GTA4 I was in agony as I went through the mission where you had to kill all the Jewish diamond dealers, for obvious reasons. Worst part of the game (for me).

There are also probably plenty of other examples but I can't think of them now and I've already typed enough.

Yes, I loved the Helghast. Although I don't know why. I just hated the ISF more I guess.

Also, I found myself rooting for Solus and the T'lan in Breakdown.

The Empire from Star Wars because, well, I don't think this needs much explanation.

The Helghast from Killzone because if you read through the entire story, you realize that they aren't the 100% pure evil baddies that the ISA make them out to be. The ISA (the "good" guys, who you play as) are actually more to blame for the whole war than the Helghast themselves. Another reason is Scolar Visari (voiced by Brian Cox). His speeches are just so motivating and powerful: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4Ns4qIyVpI and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ir5EavFCHvw (the intros to Killzone 1 and 2, both contain speeches by Visari).

And the Covenant. Not the religious Covenant led by the Prophets, but the other races of the Covenant. I don't really enjoy killing grunts, jackals, hunters, elites, and scarabs (they're basically giant hunters) because I know all the little details about each race. I still hate the Prophets though. So I'd love to see the Covenant, but without the Prophets (basically, the Covenant at the end of Halo 3). Bungie actually delivered what I wanted by finally liberating the Covenant from the Prophets and destroying their religion once and for all at the end of Halo 3.

Gotta be the Empire. If you've ever read the New Jedi Order Series...
I mean honestly, do you think the Vong would have stood a chance against the Eclipse Star Destroyer or the Death Star?

For me? Depends on who you consider the bad guys in KOTOR, I was always evil, so both the protagonists and the bad guys were the same person, and I loved them so much more then the wimpy jedi.

Why yes, I did. And for the record I believe that I had come to this conclusion before the ZP video came out, so it's not like I get all my ideas based on what Yahtzee says. It's just that me and Mr. Croshaw happen to share many ideologies and opinions. Aye, we are much the same, he and I. I think.

I would so join President Eden. I'm replaying fallout 3 just to be evil and join him. :)

I was just talking about this the other day with some friends. It may seem really odd that we like the villians so often, but I think I know why we do this. Writer's try to show us a truely evil creature (be it alien, human, mutant), so that we will be appalled by it's actions. However, the result is opposite; we identify with the man who was pushed around in highschool and now kills everyone. We like the person who has flipped the bird at the establishment and now goes around creating choas. We love the creature that holds the fate of mankind in it's hands and decides to crush it instead of saving it. Why? Because would we not do the same thing? Would we not run over a puppy for a million bucks? Villians get the money, and the chicks. What do the heros get? The thanks of a world and the girl in the end. Woop dee do. Why would you want thanks and a chick when you could have the planet and chicks.

I don't know...that's just me...

Sylar from Heroes. A villain that (for most of the time) is completely logical. He would kill James Bond quickly efficiently and without revealing a shred of his diabolical plan.

In FEAR, I had no interest in killing Paxton though the game required me to. The same with Alma - after all, it was clear that she didn't want *me* dead.

After finding out why they were on the rampage, three outcomes would have made sense IMO: hurting them in self-defense if necessary, walking away and letting them finish slaughtering Armacham core personnel (who totally deserved it BTW), or even giving them a hand.

In redwall, I always wanted the ferrets to win, and I couldn't stand the mouses and badgers.

The empire, after I learned Palpatien's motivations.

In NGE, I'm still undecided as to whether the human instrumentality project was really all that bad. And the angels weren't really evil per-se.

There's more I know, but that's what comes to mind.

If any villain deserves to take over the world, it's SHODAN, and if ever someone were to annihilate my entire species in a cruel, cold and calculating way, I don't think I'd mind half as much if it were SHODAN.

She deserves it!
