Dangit, not another blasted pony thread. Only one thing to do. No need to jump in Daystar, I got this.

I hate to do it, but you forced me too. This thread is now about cheesecake.
Make me proud, son.

Wait, did I miss something?

I have been absent for 2 weeks and haven't really been following the trending forums but everyone is saying there has been an influx of pony related threads.

Is this true, or are people being dramatic because sometimes the internet classifies 1 or 2 posts on the same general topic as and "influx".

I don't have that problem. Having now seen something like 20 episodes of the show, I am as confused as before about the whole MLP thing. While it does mark a startling increase in quality over the show from the 80s that my sister watched, such a compliment says little. Simply changing the 80s show so that the characters did not sound like infants would have been an astounding improvement.

To me, it is simply an okay show. I can understand why it would be reasonably popular with children but the obsession generated in audiences clearly outside the target demographic remains baffling. It is tolerable. It has moments that are good. But its capacity to generate rabid fans remains startling. 8 hours of ponies later and I still don't believe the MLP fandom is anything but a joke those involved forgot the punchline to.

Otherwise I keep similar attitudes about the show to everything in life. Like it if you want to, share it if you want to, but if it's not relevant or the person you're talking to clearly doesn't give a single shit, then stop.
Off topic, but after traveling to Britian I think I have figured out the origin of your gif. It is Steven Fry hosting the show QI gardening edition objecting to one of his guests sawing the table in half with a cane that transforms into a hack saw.

That sounds just sad. It's a very well made animation series, but doesn't really do anything for my taste.

Anywho, it's just a trend with the whole self-acknowledging hook of young men enjoying a show, made for kids, full of cute ponies. It will die out for the most part eventually.

Fortunately this site is pretty much the only place I happen to encounter any pony-fandom.
ye be wrong on that second part, if will not die out, since when as anything died out shortly after it was created? It will likly stick around for years, decades even, but after say a 100 years, yes it likely be remebered by only historians.

As for the op, ye in quite a bind. I don't know what I would do, so me of little help here.

As for my status I love the show, characters, and yes the fanart is on/off with me, some good, some bad, some in the middle, but me not over obsessive. I do not hate or dislike anyone who has given the show a fair try at least. Stay Orky :)

I don't know about you, but I'll take a Pony Thread over an ME3 thread anyday.
Oh God, yes.

I love these My Little Pony threads. I think I earned them for putting up with all the Mass Effect threads.

That is indeed correct.
Feel free to find yourself a cookie. I'm a lazy sod and am slightly too busy to be on here and I really shouldn't be checking me messages but shhhhhhh.

Cheesecake is ruining me.

Seriously, it really is. It seems that the majority of my dude friends are really into cheesecake. Not just like dudes who like dessert, either, but harsh, harsh "cheesies" (that's what they call themselves). One of them has written an over one-hundred thousand word cheesecake fanfic; I'm honestly impressed he actually managed to find that much to say about a type of pastry. Another has a shelf full of random slices of now-rotten cheesecake. Hanging out with this assortment of various cheesecake-obsessed young gentlemen has gotten somewhat monotonous, as hangouts frequently boil down to them constantly changing the conversation to cheesecake, or showing me various videos and remixes on Youtube (yeah, those exist. I'll admit that cheesecake dubstep is pretty fucking awesome).

As for myself, In small doses, I honestly don't mind cheesecake. It is pretty tasty, I've tried 8-9 different kinds of it and liked them all well enough. It's not something that compels me to obsess about it constantly or want to have it as my primary dessert of choice or whatever, but it's alright. Except now I find myself constantly being harrassed by cheesies for not joining the bakery.

Does anyone else have so much goddamn cheesecake drama in their life, or am I the only one troubled by it?
You forgot all the cheesecake haters who accuse anyone who eats cheesecake of unwholesome cake-lust.

It will die out. I'm not talking about it suddenly having no fans at all. But all the hype and brony-stuff will. Eventually as I put it, the phenomenon will die out.

Every kid still got a Tamagochi? It was a lot larger thing though. This phenomenon revolves on the surprising audience group, and it's devotedness, given the commonly associated target audience is immensely different.

This might be interesting. It was recently featured here on the largest commercial TV network's news. The 10 o'clock news has for decades had some kind of a funny, interesting, surprising, endearing, etc. bit in the end.

Even worse, another sizable portion of my friends (mostly women, actually) have decided that the whole brony thing is hideously disturbing. Just yesterday I talked to someone who had decided that the Brony community was basically a training ground for pedophiles.
Sounds more like you need some new friends than a problem with ponies.

Hey, I'm a fan and I'm not obsessed with it! Fuckin' nutjobs ruin everything...

Could you at least try talking with your friends and come to an agreement?
Fuckin' right. It's the same way with Sonic the Hedgehog these days.
Sonic's cool enough to be popular again? Never thought I'd see the day...

OT: Well good sir, I'd seriously consider it more of a friend problem than a pony problem. If they aren't nice enough to see you aren't exactly engaged in the conversation, maybe bring it to their attention. Or change the subject to something else everyone can have input on. Like delicious cheesecake.

With Colors being awesome, Generations being pretty good, and the next installment of the pretty good Sonic 4 coming next month, yea. Sonic doesn't suck anymore.

Honestly? I try to distance myself from interacting with the fan base at all. I float down, watch an episode if I feel like I have the time, and then disappear back into the darkness, leaving no footprints.
