I'm sorry I may not be in touch with what is "hip" these days, but who's Cheryl Cole?
And why is Stephen Fry (and his incredibly soothing voice) not beating her.

O NOES BRITISH PEEPOL
Eh, I'm a Brit and I dunno who the hell she is, either...

But LOL @ anyone getting this worked up over which celebrity would be the best teacher.
Tho, I'd take a class taught by Peter Weller, an actor (he was in Robocop as, well...Robocop), but only because he teaches a course on ancient history at Syracuse.

My ideal teacher would be David Attenborough.

Cheryl Cole or Katie Price are about the worst teachers I could imagine unless you are young and desperate.

...

There is no hope.

This is so horribly distasting to read... that I think we should declare war on idiots.

To Arms!

They just want someone famous and fun. I doubt they took it seriously. I'm sure if you asked kids in the 60's a similar question (Paul McCartney or Einstein) they'd probably still go with the bigger teen-aimed celebrity.

From the articles comments.

Oh dear. This is bound to get people's knickers in a twist but if I'd been asked this question when I was a kid, I would probably have said something like Bros and ET. I'm frankly surprised that Stephen Fry made the list at all. This is not a sign of 'broken Britain' or any other hysterical hyperbole. It's kids being kids.
I totally agree with this, I'd have said Pacman would be an epic teacher as a kid, if it was done in school me and my friends would have rallied a sort of underdog to come and take the top. Pacman would be my choice but wouldn't go well with the popular kids so we'd have to think of something funny for everyone, it probably would have been Ali G back at the time.
I'm putting too much thought into this, but if I started getting people to use their vote for a comical goal that people agreed with it would have caught on.

Now I would vote Stephen Fry, but back in school it would have been Pacman.

Katie Price isn't fun either though, so I'm not sure where anyone was going with that. Odds are people think she is a genuine role model. And she certainly isn't sexy. She's as attractive as people like Paris Hilton and Megan Fox, which to me is hideous.

I'd go for Groucho Marx, or Charlie Brooker (he gets everything right). Plus don't be to hard on the little idiots, we all probably would have said something similar back at that age. Though I probably would has said Batman.

I would love Dustin Hoffman as my art theory professor. For starters having played a professor in Stranger than Fiction AND a Graduate, he would be more mentally equipped for the job than this X Factor chick. And he wouldn't take any crap from students.

Just replace "HEY! I'M WALKIN' HERE!" with "HEY! I'm TEACHIN' HERE!" and you get my drift.

After searching in vain for anything about this here, I decided to put this up.

For those afraid of evil links, it basically means that British children seem to think being stupid makes you a good role model.

Out of all ideal teachers, Cheryl Cole was named first. Stephen Fry was ninth, being beaten by fucking Katie Price of all people.

David Soskin, Swapit's chairman, said: "Kids and adults alike love the glitz and glamour of the X Factor and Cheryl is rapidly becoming a great role model for kids."
Does anyone else find this depressing?
Oh dear god...Really? Cheryl Cole and Katie Price are judged to be better teachers than Stephen "I know everything" Fry? Damn we're screwed...

How could you beat Stephen Fry. THE VOICE!
And the intelligence! He's the perfect teacher.

Cheryl Cole can't even tie her own shoelaces.

Oh that Cheryl Cole... Darn her. Ok I've never heard of her, but the fact that Miley Cyrus placed third disgusts me
