First of, I'm in a dickish mood, so sorry for being a dickSeriousSquirrel said:Hey all:
I Just got into a new glass, and there's this really awsome, smart, cute chick in there. Were getting along just fine. Then, I discover that she has the name last name as me. I how much would this bother you? Because the second I found out it made things akward for me
You are a dork. Sorry man but that is very dorky. No you're not a dork for freaking out because of this, you're a dork for not finding the correct solution. I have to thank you though, reading about the problems of non-commuting guys like you makes me realize how I should act in my relationship. This makes me sound arrogant, doesn't it?
Here's the way you solve this problem. Talk to her and ask her about her family name, then check if you're related or not. If so, too bad, if not then nothing really changed. Ask her on a date sometime? Come on you know you want to, and it'll help to get some confidence (that is if you won't wail in self pity if it goes wrong).
Extra note:
Here's how you should / could have handled that situation. "Hey you're last name is ....., mine too! That's funny, is you're grandfather/grandmother by any chance ......., ". Possible reactions "Yeah as a matter of fact it is, something about being related" or "No my grandfather/grandmothers name is ......", you're reaction to the latter "Owh good, so I can ask you out then."
