I love video game girls. I think a game with a female lead is exponentially more interesting than a game with a male lead. There is just something so awesome about a girl who can kick ass. That being said, I don't like female mages. They're so cliche and boring to me. A female healer...riveting. Aeris was ok, though. Sorry, now I'm just rambling. Anyway, the point is, I love video game girls. My personal favorites are Cammy, Psylocke, Jill Valentine, Lara Croft, Felicia, Rikku, Princess Ashe, C. Viper, Kitana, and Tali.

Also..does using girls in games, especially fighting games, make you feel less manly/masculine?
The only reason I prefer male leads over female is because I project myself onto whatever character I'm playing. If they're female, then it's hard for me to do that, lol. I do occasionally make female characters in games that allow you to pick gender (like Dynasty Warriors) and I have a pool of female characters that I choose from. Now in Street Fighter, I originally chose Ken because he had a green fireball, and because my brother chose Ryu. Now I just like him.

If you have SFIV, whenever my PS3 gets fixed, we can have a match online.
I have SSF4 and SF4 but I only have a 360.
Aww, that sucks. I play a mean Ken. I'm not the best but I don't follow that stupid "flowchart" either. Course, it's been a while since I've played the game, I'm VERY rusty anyway. But yeah, I'm not in the game to win, but have a fun match. I don't spam fireballs and the like. Maybe some other day we'll get a chance at a match.

I think they do. Chun Li and Cammy kicking ass is a lot more interesting than Ryu or Ken, imo.

I don't think either gender is more appealing, just depends how well written the character is, chromosomes be damned.

As for fighting games, as long as they fight well, there's no real problem with playing as a female character, for me anyways.

Sweet. Not to brag but I'm in the top 50 Cammys in North America on Xbox Live. Woot woot!

There have been, however ... numerous instances where a character is totally dull because the designers/writers didn't do much more work than "huge pair of knockers."

Hmm ... maybe trying to post "Catholic" set off an alarm somewhere, and your post had to get by censors.

Umm, err, well then ... pic plz.

Aw man, this is gonna make me sound like a real pervert, but I always have female characters on Guitar Hero games. Seeing a girl rock out, even a pixelated one, is awesome and I either use the stock female chars or create one to my liking. Then again, I play GH and RB more than any person usually would.

Sweet, you'd probably beat me but be a blast to fight! I'm not sure what I rank on the Kens list but it's probably pretty low. Most people fight with him based on the flowchart or just using him the way you'd expect to use him. I try to avoid being cheap and go for what'd make a good fight. One of the best fights I had was with this AWESOME Balrog player. He was better than myself by far, but eventually I caught up to him and we ended up spending the whole night fighting. He'd dash through my fireballs and I'd backwords leap just in time to avoid one of his downward punches...Man, it was such a great fight.

Another time, I was fighting some Sagat player that would NOT stop spamming fireballs. I stayed at the back of the screen and was somehow able to dodge every one. It looked like an anime fight, it was so cool. I think I still lost eventually but the fight was so much fun I didn't care!

Yuck, I've never had an awesome experience with Balrog. They all piss me off. Him and grapplers, I just hate fighting them so much. Here's a video of me fighting a Blanka from a few months ago

Seeing as my favourite character in a fighting game is Noel Vermilion and she's my desktop background and mouse pad I'll say no. I'm a sucker for a gunslinger anyways but playing as a girl in MMO's is really unnerving unless your playing with people you know, people being nice always feel really suspect even if they are just trying to help out. I do also tend to go with female characters in anything I play.

Speaking of SF4 ... my main is Honda, but I also play Dhalsim and Zangief.
Apart from being a little Ochio happy, my Honda is quite typical, though.

Didn't play SSF4 due to not being in arcades (I don't like the online lag), but SSF4: Arcade Edition is going to be sweet!
Might pick up Juri .. she looks like my style of character.

AE is fuckin bullshit if you ask me. They said they didn't want any overpowered characters, yet one look at Yun's gameplay and you can tell he's gonna dominate like Sagat did in vanilla SF4. They nerfed Cammy's cannon strikes to where they're unusable...that was like her fireball. It was her main pressure tool. She's gone to hell now. Ugh don't even get me started :(

I grew up with Ripley from the Alien franchise being me hero--Vasquez even more so.

In '91, I got a new Kick-ass version of Sarah Conner.

During this period, we didn't have a very sophisticated array of male action stars, and while some of them have matured quite well over the ages, Van Damme, Schwartzenegger, Lundgren, Stallone and the like might have been something for someone to look at, but most of their characters didn't really offer much complexity compared to ther sparse female counterparts.

In gaming, we were able to use a fat plumber or a girly-looking elf for a number of years. Most of the other character bodies in games still continue the tradition of 80's action physique--female characters were rare for a long time, but not un-appriciated.

If there's a chick to play in a game, there's a good chance I might choose that avatar, unless it's something I can customize myself such as in the Elder Scrolls/Fallout games, or Halo, where I can make an avatar thet represents "me," and not a character to play.

As for "feeling girly" for playing a female character in a fighting game... no. MAtter of fact, Sonya Blade is the first female I remember playing--she always sorta reminded me of Linda Hamilton's Sarrah Conner portrayal.

A non-flow chart Ken? Impossible; that is against the laws of the universe. The Ken police are on their way;you will be stripped of all your Ken powers shortly.

As for the topic, in most any game, there is one male and one female I like to use. Its just whatever mood I happen to be in.

SSFIV: Dudley and Cammy.
DoA4: Bayman and Helena
Soul Calibur: Tira and Scythe-Man
Smash Bros: Roy and Zelda

Etc.

They can try but they'll never get past the fact that I play Ken differently! No seriously, like even in the second round, people will treat me as if I'm playing from the flowchart. Sometimes, when they expect me to Shoryuken, I'll just stand there and they'll prepare to defend from it and for a few seconds neither of us will move.

I'm the same way. Most fighting games at least, there are usually at least one female and one male character that I use. I loved Talim in Soul Caliber. She was an awesome ninja. Although, with her...ninja equipment, I'm surprised she can jump around like that without being thrown off balance.

Talim is the annoying little 15-year old with the weird spinner elbow blades.

I play girls in pretty much every MMO I play.

Although this is mostly so lonley nerds give me free stuff. You'd be surprised how far a "^_^" and a /giggle can get you.
