I might be in the minority here but ilike Tiny Tina from Borderlands 2. Her manic energy was perfect for the game and her DLC is hilarious. And even though i just wrote her off as another kooky loudmouth in borderlands, her background actually made me feel for her. Certainly more than I did when Roland died (unfortunately).

But other than borderlands 2? there's been some i'm sure. but i can honestly say i'm not a huge fan of kids in bethesda games. they usually seem so... flat? like most of the characters in their games, they have a basic setup but lack actual depth. at least in my experience.

Tiny Tina from BL2 is very funny.

Wolf (IIRC) from NWN2 is a cool character. He lies constantly, tries to get the PC arrested and moves into your uncle's inn without even asking. But for all that, he and the other rascals do well by the PC and are a nice addition to the game.

This. Exactly what I was going to say. You can clearly see she's a child growing into an adult and she has no idea how to cope, she's being raised by a group of heroically homicidal maniacs, and is completely disconnected socially.

Has anyone mentioned ICO and Yorda yet?
This was one of my favorite games because the story was told mostly with gameplay. It had quite a nostalgic feeling throughout the game also, largely because it takes place in a seemingly abandoned castle.

The Psychonauts crew has already been mentioned.
Damn! How could I forget ICO and Yorda?! DX

That's one of my favorite games too. I is ashamed. :(
Dude, it's all good, it's because ICO has horns. LOL, he's still a kid though.

If the Ninja Turtles were actually kids instead of teens, they'd work too, but oh well.

What about animals/beasts that are kids too?

Dammit! Almost made it to the end of the thread.

I was going to say that the kid from ICO is a definite mention. I don't even particularly like the game, but the atmosphere and the clumsy little dude with his nonsense hat do make me happy in the abstract.

That wasn't a hat. :p

Arya Stark from GoT, because we all know she's supposed to be the likeable child character there.

Now, more importantly, I really really liked Takagami Tooru from the anime Wagaya No Oinari-Sama. Hell, I liked each and every character in that series.
Tooru deserves special mention though, because not only is he not some sort of adult-hating, """""""quirky"""" nitwit; hell, if anything, he's an avatar of niceness, sensibility (within the frames of a kid, if a sort of bright one) compassion and forgiveness, and is just in general very charming.
He's, due to circumstances beyond his control, someone monsters naturally gravitate to, and he's kidnapped now and again, and he gets a painful love interest subplot, but none of that diminished my goodwill towards him at all.

Edit: Forgot Rika, Satoko and Hanyuu from Higurashi no naku Koro ni. Going into why would be spoiler territory I feel, but yeah.

What about the kids from Costume Quest?

Reynold might act like a jerk towards his sister a lot but he grows out of it soon enough. Besides, who didn't act like that towards his siblings at that age? It also helped that the kids were legitimately funny through out their little adventure.

Yep, she count btw.
Reason? Play the game to learn why.
Maybe we should limit the thread to actual child characters, and not... y'know.

Anyway, I'm going to be incredibly creative and original and go with Clementine and Arya Stark.

In reality she is still a child.
If OP only wanted human children, then he/she should had said so.

I would have said Elizabeth from Bioshock Infinite, but then I found out she was meant to be 20.
Dunno if it was the art style or voice acting or something, but I assumed she was about 14 or 15 when I was playing it through.

EDIT: I think it's the eye and head ratio. There's that thing about eye-to-head and head-to-body ratios altering people's perception of age. I reckon it was that.

As has been already said, Clem from The Walking Dead is a great character. She behaves like a real child, but isn't annoying. She's also polite and helpful which makes her far more likeable than your average child character.

Tiny Tina from Borderlands 2 is an awesome character, she's a cutesy, insane, 13 year old demolitions expert who talks like a rapper. What's not hilarious about that? Plus, one of the missions she gives you has a "slap in ***** face" mission objective.

There's a flower selling orphan in Windhelm in Skyrim that I took a liking to, if only because she seems to be the character I've felt the most sympathy for in the entire province. There really isn't much else to say about her - she's a little orphan girl living on the streets of the 2nd most blizzardy city in the most blizzardy game, selling flowers. She doesn't say much and really if I just saw her on paper, I'd not give her a second thought, but seeing her lie on the street in the middle of a blizzard just sort of touched me.

Not leaving Skyrim, there is also the vampire child in the Dark Brotherhood (I don't know if she counts as she's hundreds of years old) and one of Balgruuf's kids in the Mephala quest has a bit of interesting lore to him. Also, if you first enter Aventus Arentino's house with the right mindset, that's eye-opening as well.

Thought I'd add two cents about a game not generally known for its likeable children.

Of course Clementine wins, but that's a slow pitch.

Hm... many great kids here, but I'm going to go with Pearl from the Ace Attorney series.

She's cute and kind, responsible and stubborn without being annoying, and she shows some really childish sides at times. Not to mention, she shows enough weakness to be believable. Apart from her, there's several other great child characters in the Ace Attorney series.

Leeeets face it, Ellie from TLOU isn't actually a child. She's supposed to be but appearance, voice, idiosyncrasies and general behaviour suggests otherwise.
OT: I actually liked the kids from Skyrim. They were cheeky in a funny way and I sometimes played tag with them.

Touché. Although since we don't refer to any non-human young as "children" (kitten, puppy, chick etc.), Saya might be better described as, I dunno, "spawn" or somesuch.
