So today while my dad was driving me to school I was listening to the news on the ABC above the roar of the 6 litre V8 engine. It turns out at a private school in Brisbane a 12 year old kid was stabbed to death by a 13 year old kid from his school. The Deparment of Education stated that "this is not becoming a trend" despite that a few weeks earlier, one student stabbed a classmate in the leg at a different school. Then they moved on to talk about a completely unrelated incident where a mother had stabbed another mother outside a school. The woman with the knife was holding a baby at the time.

Oh, and yes someone at my school has been stabbed before (he was stabbed in the arm with a pair of scissors over a matter of $10) and I have also noticed that all the years below mine are turning out to be full of little shits. Little because they seem to be getting shorter and shits because most of them parade around the school practically begging for someone to stab them. I'm in year 11 btw.

So, has a conflict at your school resulted in someone getting seriously hurt? Do you think the years below yours are becoming groups of assholes?

UPDATE: So yesterday a kid bought a knife to my school. Read about it here [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.176030-Student-brings-knife-to-school-again].

I do notice the arsehole effect, but i've always assumed the younger years always seem like arseholes to the older ones.

When it comes to stabbings etc, when i was at school their wasn't any weapons used against other students. Except fists, and randomly pushing one other for a period which i never understood.

BLAME IT ON VIDEO GAMES! THEY DID IT ALL!

I haven't encountered much hostility on my school. On my previous school however, there was the occasional fight [sub]That I totally didn't participate in.... honest![/sub]

Oh, and one of the teachers at my old school told me that for every year, the 9th graders get worse and worse. Which makes sense when I think about it... I need to kick their ass!

This is why we need to bring back corporal punishment. Lil bastards would tow the line if the very real threat of being publicly flogged hung above their heads.

We need to bring back ritual beatings. Nothing prevents a child from doing anything better than a good kick in.

(Good lord I hope you know I'm joking.)

I am now cynically waiting on someone to blame it on video games but to be honest children are all little bastards anyway to varying degrees. Glad I never was one...

Har, har. That's pretty funny.

Well, we weren't able to stay neutral during WW2, even though we tried. Furthermore, if Germany didn't occupy us, Britian most certainly would. Hitler just beat the allies to it.

EDIT:

Ah, the myth of childhood innocence. Children are just as crazy as adults, don't underestimate them.

After all, those who committed the Columbine massacre were technically children. One of them at least.

Anyway, yes there was once a stabbing at my school.

Sadly, I was the one doing it. Didn't work though. I'm calm now.

Although, one time this fellow hit a teacher in the head with a jar and broke his jaw. I wasn't there for that though.
That school was whacked out crazy though

Heh, I and the rest of my year held pretty much the same opinion. Most teachers too actually, but upon reflection I don't think there is any sort of child decay from 1994 to now. There is a ton of kids, who lets face it, don't want to be at school and generally don't give a shit as to how they act. These people leave after year 10 and what gets left are those that do give a shit and generally don't act like little douche bags and the teachers and students can't imagine those that stay acting like brats so obviously the year must have always been like that. No one remembers the kid that smokes pot down at the back oval and comes to maybe 20% of the classes, not well anyway. Truth is your year was probably viewed in a similar way by other senior students because of a bad few people.

These attacks, their timing is probably a coincidence. Kids have always been messing each other up, kids have been killed with knives before, two attacks just happened within a short time frame. Nothing to worry about I think.

dammit ninja'd
i've noticed the pyramid of arsehole's it tends to be getting worse as you move down the years. the school i was at was pretty rough maybe fights every other day or something stupid like that but nothing as serious as stabbing (there were a few "accidents" in the design tech classes)

I'm confused do you mean the Mother/baby thing?

The person doing the stabbing was holding a baby according to OP, thats what I meant :p
