Ever had that one thing that scared you as a kid? Wether it be from a TV show or a movie or whatever?

For me, a few stand out:

*The Redeads from The Legend of Zelda: Ocorina of Time. It may have been my first exposure to zombies, and it was not pleasant.

*In that one episode of Rugrats, when Tommy was exploring the post office, at one point he almost falls into a pit of old letters and a goddamned human skeleton! What the ever-loving Hell Nickelodeon?!

*For some reason, I remember being scared by the image of a giant headless guy in a suit, though for the life of me I can?t remember where I saw it. And I know I didn?t just imagine it because a kid in my neighborhood managed to recreate it as a Halloween costume... which didn?t do me any favors...
Wildly misread that as redheads from Legend of Zelda. I mean the Gerudo jumping down to attack you was a bit of a surprise but not that bad!

But as for actual things that scared me as a kid...

I saw one thing on TV with a monster peeking through a window and I was never quite comfortable with the high window in the bathroom after that because it was somewhat reminiscent

Also the hall spooked me out a bit when I was little cuz it reminded me of a hall in a game where a ghost appeared

Used to have a childhood trauma involving dogs.

When I was six, I once got attacked by a German Shepard at a used car/motocycle junkyard. I was there with my dad cuz he needed a specific part for a motorcycle. The dog was supposed to be chained down during opening hours, but somehow managed to get loose. Seeing a ravenous dog (from my pov) barrel down on me, I panicked and ran for it (cuz 6 years old). Didn't get far, of course. Dog knocked me down and severely mauled my back. The scars from that are still visible, over 25 years later.

Resulted in me being deathly afraid of almost all dogs, especially German Shepards. Except for a Cocker Spaniel belonging to a friend of my dad's, whom I was already playing with beforehand. Cocker Spaniels were basically the only dogs I liked for a long time. I eventually got one of my own and later got over my fear of dogs.

-- The X-Files theme tune used to freak me the fuck out when I was little, and I could hear a member of my family watching it downstairs. It's one of my favourite TV shows of all time now.

-- ReDeads and Dead Hand from Ocarina of Time.

-- Spiders. I used to have little recurring mini waking-dreams about massive spiders. I'm still scared of them.

Childhood?
Well I was a very stoic kid and was overall pretty hard to scare but I've always been afraid of roaches, that was the one silly thing that genuinely scared me, other than that, well my childhood was kinda messed up and the first time I was in a fire I was pretty damned scared, however, I had that fear beaten out of me and I really haven't been afraid of fire for a really long time, I even used to burn myself on purpose to see how much pain I could handle but you know I was an edgelord & a loner, other than that I had a very serious fear of physical contact with other people, like I'd push people away and hurt them if necessary, and hugs were like the worst thing ever, everyone always thought that it was this thing with being edgy and thinking hugs & kisses were lame but they genuinely terrified me, they felt weird & invasive and made me so uncomfortable that I would even tremble if I couldn't push the person away it was weird.

I was a very weird kid.

I was absolutely terrified of Grotbags from the Rod Hull and Emu show when I was very young (~3 or 4). Other than that, nothing really. I remember getting freaked out by the Dark Crystal's Skeksis and stuff like that, but I always liked getting scared as a kid so was never left with any negative effects.

Well if we're talking in general I got into an accident that lead to a couple years of screaming in my sleep. But for media induced stuff I'd say catching the first hour or so of Resident Evil 1 when I was 5 years old or so. Game's a lot spookier when you're a dumb kid.

Well, in Zelda: Majoras Mask there's that one sidequest that involves a disembodied hand coming out of a toilet. It's not hostile or anything, you have to bring it an item and you get a heart piece, but as a kid I found it weirdly creepy. I still kinda do, to be honest, because a large hand coming out of a toilet at night is sort of an absurdly frightening visual. I understand it's a reference to some japanese ghost story but to me it always was a sort of surreal horror.

I remember staying up late 1 night and secretly watching Even Horizon until 1 in the morning. I think I was around 11 at the time. It was the only time in my life I have been too scared to sleep.

The Jim Carrey Grinch used to scare the shit out of me. I had to leave the room if a trailer ever came on. He would often appear in my nightmares. I was finally forced to watch the movie in school and realized I was freaking out over nothing, I guess it had to do with the way the prosthetic made Jim Carrey's face look.

I was forced to help my stepfather fix something with the A/C and heating unit in our home. We lived in a trailer at the time.

He swore that all the power in the home was off, and kept telling me to stick my hand in this part to twist something. I was reluctant because...well I saw a voltage symbol. But again, he assured me it was all turned off.

Yep, stuck my hand in, and all I remember is a rather nasty buzzing feeling in my body, my hand especially since it kept feeling that way even after I pulled away, and I jolted back and screamed.
To this day, I can't go near anything electric without feeling a bit nauseous at the thought. I couldn't tell you how much I got zapped, I have no idea. I guess it couldn't have been too bad if I'm alive and I didn't get any burns, but it was enough to render me terrified of electricity.
There was probably some power left in some capacitors. People have died that way. Always remember to unload the capacitors before you work on electronics!

When I was about 6 or so, I somehow managed to watch Aliens on the sly when it was showing real late. Something about the trailers just meant I HAD to watch this movie, for some reason. I seemed to think it was about space dragons, which in hindsight is probably not far off.

My parents eventually caught on because I became a nervous wreck for a couple days. I was afraid of being alone, or in the dark, and even having anxiety attacks thinking things could burst out of my stomach at any minute. Movie left quite an impact.

Few years later I watched it again, and actually enjoyed it. Few more years and a handful of rewatches, they're basically now my favorite things in the universe. Massive Aliens fan, *almost* every movie, yes I even enjoy most of the crappy ones too. Not to mention the games and some of the comics. Aliens itself I can quote a large portion of. I've considered getting a xenomorph tattoo (there are some seriously awesome ones out there) but at my age, I don't know if it's worth it.

Yeah I was scared of other movies too as a kid (Nightmare on Elm Street, and Chucky most of all), but after I became a fan of the horror genre, it's quite hard to be shaken by anything these days, which kinda sucks.
