Not me.

Every time I watch old shows or movies, I tend to notice new things or material that I was too young to understand or catch on. So all my old content feels refreshing and continually expanding my understating and admiration for the content.

Watership Down is a much better movie now that I'm older rather than being a scary ass rabbit movie.
Same with Plague Dogs.

OT: Oh so much. Later Don Bluth movies, what happened?!

First of all, does anyone remember Digimon? If not, here's a reminder.

Anyway. I was surfing youtube when, for some reason, the entire Digimon movie showed up in the suggested videos thing on the side. My intential thoughts "Hell yeah. The Digimon movie! I remember that kicking ass. I'll set aside some time to watch it"

*1 hours and 28 minutes late*

That was dildos. Like, complete and utter dildos.
That's what you get for watching the hideous Frankenstein's monster that was the American Digimon movie. They took 2 1/2 of the first 3 stand-alone Japanese Digimon movies, chopped up their bodies, ground them up into a fine paste and extruded it out to get the American movie. The third movie was changed so much as to be almost completely unrecognizable from the orignal, with major plot points either removed completely or shuffled around into random spots.
Well Our War Game was left more or less intact, which is my favorite of the set anyway. In fact I'd say I liked the English version better if only for the music.

I don't think the things I enjoyed as a child were "bad" per say. A lot of the things I enjoyed back then I wouldn't enjoy today if not for the nostalgic value. All the same, obviously children's books and movies would be simplistic compared to adult media. There's no point in it being overly complex because it would just go straight over a young child's head. Therefore it's not bad, it's just targetted at a particular audience.

For example, when I reread a book which I loved as a child I was struck by how simplistic the language was. Even though it wasn't very well written, it got its message through. In fact, if it were more complex ("better" written) I probably wouldn't have enjoyed it as much as I did to begin with, because I wouldn't have understood it well enough to appreciate it. I don't consider it a bad book. It's just not for adults.

Small Soldiers, my favorite childhood movie, still holds up. It's fucking toys killing each other. That was my childhood.

Eh, I wouldn't support that statement on principle. Still, a lot of things that were awesome in your childhood will liquify your brain as an adult... try watching an episode of Power Rangers once you hit 20 - I dare you.

Well, there are a few, but most of them are stuff that never really left much of an impact on me as a kid, and that I more or less forgotten over the years. Like the American version of Cardcaptors. It never left much of an impression on me as a kid and had forgotten about for a long time. Watching it now, I can pretty much say it was crap (the Japanese version is awesome.)

Other than that, there was the first two Spyro games, but it wasn't that they were bad, they were just shockingly easy.

I never really had much of a grip on my nostalgia. When I do find something I remember as a kid, it's like "Huh, I remember this. Neat!" and not so much "WOW! I REMEMBER THIS! THIS IS GONNA BE AWESOME!" I'm well aware that most of what I've seen as a kid was crap, and the only things that left an impression on me were things I loved as a kid and still love to this day.

Cliches can seem pretty novel when they're your first exposure. Tastes refine with growth. But, yeah - though some more than others.

I use to watch Digimon. I actually found a whole bunch of drawings of them from when I was kid a few years back *shakes head*. I remeber thinking renamon(?) was badass but thats about it (damn all people darwing porn of her. You're ruining my childhood memories!). I think I always knew it was terrible but I know liked it much more than pokemon.
I use to really love X-men evolution, teen titans, Xiaolin showdown and some live action series about a werewolf that I can't remember the name of. I should re watch them just to see if they were actually decent (probably not). I also watched and liked gargoyles at some point but I remember nothing from it

I've done that. If you can watch old shows like that with a buddy who also grew up with them- and while having a few beers- then they become just as entertaining now as they were back then, but for entirely different reasons.

Me and a friend had marathoned episodes of Power Rangers and Saved By the Bell and just had a blast laughing at all the corny stuff we didn't notice as kids.

True indeed. Not really fair, though - using that method just about everything is salvageable. ^^
