That just, binds me to a rage. It's a small little girl, who's bleeding on the street. Just seeing the video of these people passing by, letting the little girl die just is to much to bear. In my opinion, they turned a blind eye because they do not have any value for human life. They are inconsiderate, and I hope they are tracked down to be put in jail.

That's actually abuse in my opinion, because in America if they knew you walked by a dieing person then you should get your butt busted. Clearly I can't believe THAT many people walked, and I mean literally walked by eying the injured girl but moved on. What's wrong with people?? Sorry if I sound emotional, but for God's sake it's just a small little girl who is bleeding obviously. Thank goodness at least that woman came to her rescue- props to her.

As for lifting your spirits, I would say PM me if you wish to talk. I'll be happy to listen and give advise the best I can.
This is called the BYSTANDER EFFECT.

How can people just walk by and turn a blind-eye to an injured human being, let alone a toddler?Either these people are truly heartless, selfish bastards, or the population size of their own country has gone to their heads.

"Eh, there's already a BILLION of us. One less child would actually do us good."

EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THESE WORTHLESS SACKS OF FLESH, BONES, AND MUTATED, SPONGE PROTEINS SHOULD BE ARRESTED AND SENTENCED TO LIFE IN PRISON FOR CALLOUS DISREGARD FOR A HUMAN INFANT LIFE!

Or just let them get run over by a van, twice, dumped in the alley, and deny them medical attention. You know, keep things interested.
This is called the BYSTANDER EFFECT.

i've heard of a similar story, along the lines of an old man being run over, then the same car reversed on top of him, and then rode away

china is a terrible place... :/
This is called the BYSTANDER EFFECT. And this is not exclusive to China. And judging a country with 1-billion population by the acts of a few is... yeah.

Notice I said a few times this is called the BYSTANDER EFFECT?
Because it's actually called the BYSTANDER EFFECT.

You know, just saying before more people come and claim morale superiority over faceless Chinese pedestrians and drivers.

The bystander effect is universal, even in America people in emergency situations in crowded areas get ignored. A normal person in the crowd would not act. Crowd psychology is fun isn't it.
What I meant is that there aren't many people with the medical expertise to stabalise a child who has suffered severe trauma with their bare hands, and if they do they are more likely to damage the child even further.
I think most people at least have the expertise to move the child off the road. Sure, it's possible they'll do harm while doing so, but know what's guaranteed to cause more harm? Getting hit by a second fucking vehicle.
Yeah, just drag around the toddler with possible spinal injuries. Don't try to stop the traffic or anything.
Sounds great until you've got a second person down in the street after getting hit while standing around trying to stop traffic.

1. its China, they have too many people to care about one getting mangled by traffic
2. its China, they have the one child rule and boys are more valuable then girls there
3. its China, the thing that went through the passer-byres heads was the thought police
4. its China.

I frikken hate the teens on this site who have to satisfy their inflated ego's, by posting reassurance topics that the whole of humanity is this terrible thing.

Sorry, but unless you was there, you wouldn't know what kind of psychological effects of seeing that kind of thing unfold in your very eyes.

It's far too easy to just say "I would of helped her" when the truth in the matter is that seeing that kind of thing is abnormal, and it can provoke a negative reaction in someone, thus making logical reasoning impossible.

If you ask any medical profession what to do when someone is hit by a vehicle. They will always tell you not to move them under any circumstance. Stopping traffic and calling an ambulance is all that anyone who isn't a medical professional should do.
Regardless, the point wasn't about what exactly the best thing to do is, but about the fact that doing nothing is worse when traffic is still moving along. If you can get away with stopping traffic then yeah, obviously doing that is going to be better than arbitrarily dragging the body off the street where you're not going to be able to do anything with it once moved anyways.

I've read about the bystander effect and in certain situations, if someone was being attacked, then I can at-least understand why someone might not intervene, for fear of themselves being hurt, but a small child lying injured, no aggressor in sight? I still don't see any reason not to help and I refuse to believe that it's "human nature", with a few exceptions we're better than that. As cliched as this sounds, this has shaken my faith in humanity (not lost, I don't over-react) and I'm feeling rather lost now.

Oh, yeah. I saw this one at the complex place. Anyway, I just hope no one's going use this to fuel racist mindsets or whatever. Also, it's sad how this happened. It's definitely not good.

That may be the explanation, but it is not an excuse.

I don't care what human psychology says, we have proven that we have the power to resist our compulsions time and again. I don't care what it's called, I still consider the people whop walked by to be far worse human beings than the people who helped. The only reason I would not have helped in that situation was if there were already so many people tending to the girl that I would have just been getting in their way. I'm not saying everyone should be experts in first aid, but it doesn't take any training, or any effort, to just call a fucking ambulance for crying out loud! Whatever was going on inside their heads it does not absolve them from letting that girl bleed out in the street, and it especially does not absolve the second driver for actively running her over again.

I mean i dunno if you say this just because you wouldnt? But i totally would.. so erm. Maybe im just a better person than you? Ive been thrust into horrible situations before and i managed to help people, although for the most part i did know them. Saying one phrase over and over doesnt change that what these people did was horrible and in fact WOULDNT happen here EVEN IF I TYPE SOME WORDS IN CAPS. Its called the NOT BEING A DICK effect. People call ambulances and police all the time in aid of someone else. By your logic they do not.
