The last thing I think I really got hyped for was Mass Effect 3...and I think we all know how that ride on the hype train ended...

...What? The train imagery spoke to me.

I was really let down by Pacific Rim. Granted, I hadn't been expecting much to begin with, but given all the hype from Moviebob and posters here raving about how awesome it was, I was hoping to be pleasantly surprised.

Nope. It turned out to be just okay. Decent way to pass an afternoon, but nothing special.

Oh well, at least we got The Crush out of it.

Batman Arkhgam Origins. It's an Arkham game, what do you expect?
Well, an interesting story, innovation and playability is one thing.
I'm serious when I say the stealth sections are too brutal. There's no cover to hide behind to get the drop on enemies and they never move at all, which makes sense from a character perspective but not from a gameplay perspective. and the glitches. I finally returned the game during the part where you're supposed to infiltrate the GCPD because one of the buttons for opening a door to go further wouldn't work at all. And despite what everyone says, I found the Remote Claw to be useless in stealth sections. It just knocked enemies into the railings on the walkways instead of pulling them over. It's just an obvious cash grab because the previous two games were stellar, and it makes me a little bit sick inside to see such obvious moneygrabbing from people who should know bette(P.S I know Rocksteady didn't make the game, and that's perhaps even sadder)

Studio Gainax. As in, all of Gainax and everything they have made. Evangelion, Otaku no Video, they all just bore me. But they're all things that I'd be into; they're just so horribly executed and simply dull (and meaningfull) that it's impossible to crack that hard shell on the outside and get into the stuff I like.

Also, weird =/= deep. Courage the Cowardly Dog was the weirdest animated show until Adventure Time proudly carried that tradition, like Courage and Ren and Stimpy before it. And it didn't have much to say, but it did have the occasional bit of Fridge Horror or Radar-y moments that were somewhat thought provoking or scary. Not Evangelion. Not in the slightest.

Even Kill la Kill didn't catch my attention. Underage girls in skimpy outfits aren't going to get my attention. They also need to have beard and tattooed asses; then we'll talk.

Excusez-moi? Courage isn't scary? Courage didn't have much to say? Courage wasn't deep?

Nigga please, go back to your Animu if you can't figure out what was good about Courage or understand it.

OT: For me, the Hype train kind of went off the rails around the time I was a young teenager and played a Kirby game in the succeeding years of the N64. The moment I learned that the gameplay of Kirby 64 wouldn't be replicated in any other Kirby game, was the exact moment my childhood was finally smothered to death. I have since spent the prevailing years trying to reconcile my love for the N64 Kirby with the rest of the Pink Spud's series, and have at least figured out a stable relationship with him. Barring one game that lied to me on the DS about bringing back the gameplay of Kirby 64, I have enjoyed the series on their own merits.

The Evangelion thing... I just got bored halfway through. Maybe I'll pick it up at some point but I wasn't really invested in the series by then.
Same for me, except I made it all the way to the alternate ending movie.

I was intrigued to see how it would resolve itself, but it just made me dislike it even more.

After seeing the reviews for it, Uncharted 3. It was still good, but considering it got multiple perfect scores I assumed it was better than Uncharted 2. Boy was I wrong, 3 definitely did not hit all the right spots like the second one.

Last of Us might fall into this category too, but I assumed it would not be as good as the games media wanted everyone to think it was.

Paper Mario Sticker Star, mainly because JonTron kept saying how great it was on Game Grumps. Needless to say I was pretty disappointed.
Wait, wait, wait...someone who doesn't lavish The last of Us with absurd amounts of tongue bathing and praise? Someone on the Escapist even? Where have you been all my life...?

We are not as rare as you might think. We work in the shadows, waiting for our opportune moment to say "it was alright I guess."

All aboard the lov.... well my brain wasn't too far off.

I generally don't have many high expectations for anything anymore, wasn't it the Kumars who said expect the worst and you will never be disappointed. Wow that's an ancient memory. any way back when warlock came out I was probably hyped as I had sunk a lot of time into Civ 5 and loved the demo, but just found it to bore very quickly. I suppose more recently would be Brothers Given the huge praise it received I was expecting more, it was definitely a good game I was just expecting excellence. I think I only got Just cause 2 recently, bloody hell I found that a bore as well. Never again shall I trust others against my better judgement.

There's been some buzz about Frozen so I guess I was expecting more, but I found it below average, the songs were bland and the visuals and staging of the scenes were rather dull.

I didn't really get the fuss about Portal either, the puzzles were all really easy and GLaDOS was in no way the incredibly quotable stand up comedian I'd been led to believe she was. I do have fond memories of it but it's just the end sequence that made it worthwhile for me.
