I honestly don't care. People have the right to make and produce whatever they want. Hell, someone may even buy it ironically. I'm not going to get these games because I'm agnostic, and they will most likely be shit. On the other hand from a narrative stand point some of the events in the bible would be kick-ass in a video game. I mean hell even if it was just an RTS with god and his angels vs Lucifer and his angels, it would still kind of kick ass.

There have been good games with Christian themes in them (Shin Megami Tensei), so it's not the relationship with Christianity that makes me think they will suck, it's the fact that they were made to be 'wholesome' stories for kids and thus probably is as close to the bible as it is to entertaining.

Not gonna lie, the Left Behind books were actually pretty good, even from a non-Christian perspective. Just gloss over some of the more extended prayer scenes and you have a nice thriller series with an apocalyptic bent.

That does not translate well into video games. I am going to stay far, far away from these.

Cristian games...what will that be. First think that comes to mind is bibal stuff...or is it fighting for your faith, CRISTIANITY WILL PROVAIL holy land wars etc.

Or will they be Nice natured games that does not offend but can be enjoyed by everyone, using the pholosiphy if i was jesus or if jesus was here what would he want to play.

Or will we get another noah's ark 3d, that port of wolvenstein featuring goats and a sling shot.

Well, uh...good for them. The old-media-heads need to start somewhere, right? It's still kind of a shame that nobody's willing to take a bible game seriously, though; you could do a lot with that kind of source material.

gotta love double standards ;)
I don't think so, especially since they could probably release some of the same games with different skin tone.

Then again, people tend to think of anything Islamic as some kinda threat, while Christians are viewed as boring enough to ignore.

Why do Christians need a separate set of games from everyone else? Do Mario, Sonic and Pikachu somehow go against the teachings of the Bible? Fair enough I can see how some might want to avoid say Resident Evil, but there's other options surely.
I honestly do not understand the big deal. There's a company specialising in making games which appeal to a certain demographic. They're doing well. So?

I've never understood the appeal of christian games. Then again I'm not a christian.

Christian games aren't new by any means, but a christian game company reporting good news like this certainly is.

I would like to question the thinking of the stupid pillock who named the company "Left Behind" (sombody has already mentioned this, but I'm going to mention it again). That's possibly the worst name for a company I've ever heard that actually exists, because (among other things) it's just begging to be used if/when the company nosedives.

I suppose it isn't effecting me in a negative way, so let them do whatever they want. So long as their games don't end up next to my shooters on the 'coming soon' shelf in my local EB Games, I'll leave them be.

for some reason i think all those orders were prank calls :)

also, why does america/english speaking world feel the constant need to separate christians (who i believe make up 80% of usa anyway) from the "rest of the world". are american christians a special breed that need protecting (or degrading, whoever's side you're on) from the rest of the world and kept in a special environment that can nurture their special "christian" needs?

i mean, come on! christian bands, christian networks, christian GAMES?
i suppose non-christians will burn up in flames when they try the christian vibrators?

And predictably enough, the majority of comments are blindly ignorant flaming of the Christian faith. Typical...

OT: No problem. Obviously no devout atheist will buy these games for their kids. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a people group making games that cater to their own group. Seriously people, for all the "Christians are intolerant" crap, you don't exactly live by example.

God save us all?

Why? Do these people not have the right to publish what they want to?

That aside, I don't see the big deal. Christian groups are making games. Yay.
I'll stick to playing Red Dead Redemption, like a good Christian.

Wow. Way to keep your opinion non-biased there, Escapist. Nice.

And is there really anything wrong with a Christian game? Anything at all? The people who keep lambasting it need to stop being so juvenile about this.

Uh...there already are Muslim video games. They just aren't very popular because Muslims are less than 1% of America's population.

There already are Muslim videogames. The vast majority of Americans aren't prejudiced against muslims at all. While Barack Hussein Obama might be Christian, his name is clearly Arab/Muslim, and we voted for him anyways. The perception that Americans are bigoted against Muslims is in itself bigoted- and horribly innaccurate.

We already know that religious extremists don't represent Muslims in general, just as the Ku Klux Klan doesn't represent white Americans in general.
XD one of the top 9 "girl games" on the site is clean the room :D

Because the left behind games are shitty and only sell because they mark themselfs christian.
Kinda like in southpark when Cartman changed his rockbands lyrics to christian ones to make tons of money / win an award.
Also there games invole shooting people because they are atheists / believe sth. else.
And you think the company can claim this is good clean fun and people keep a straight serious face?
They deserve alot worse.

I would think there is a demand for Christian-themed video games, just as there is a demand for books and other such things. Like the show Veggie Tales, yeah there are other "wholesome" cartoons out there, but Veggie Tales emphasizes Christian values, so many parents would like for their kids to watch that. Same thing with video games I suppose.

Man, there sure is alot of contempt for Christianity on these type of threads. I'd better keep my head down, it might get shot off.

Deep and Wide is a Christian children's song. That's the reference. By all means, be juvenile about it, though.

It's ironic how they talk about Christianity providing good clean fun, considering the countless number of massacres their religion has inspired.
