I know how you feel--I get lectured all the time by family/older friends. Like I don't know what I'm doing! I've actually been struggling to quit for some time (the cravings are killing me, but right now it's physically impossible to get any smokes, so I hope I'll get over it) but every time I hear someone go on about how bad they are for me, it makes me want to light up right there.

Smoking (and my struggle to quit) are a very personal issue. I am aware of the hazards, so there is no need to attempt to enlighten me.

I just avoid most smokers to avoid the smell. Mind you, some brands are tolerable.

I only pester smokers about their habits when I am locked in a car with them in the winter with the windows rolled up and a long voyage ahead of us. That is way up there on my list of pet peeves.
Otherwise on a daily basis I leave smokers alone. Most of my coworkers smoke and I join them outside for their breaks 'cause face it, the laughs and good discussions are always outside with the smokers. So long as you don't go purposely blowin' smoke in my face, do whatever you like to your own lungs, I'm sure you know the risks, so I'm not going to make a fuss over you.

...I did ask my Dad to stop a number of times though when his health got bad. I know it's annoying but I love him and was really worried. I at least didn't bug him every day or anything, but every few months or so I'd remind him how I felt. I guess that does qualify as being annoying to a smoker, but sometimes we non-smokers can't help it, sometimes we're doing it out of love.

would i consider stopping saying "its bad for you"? XD sure thing pal, but can i still say it to my mum as a joke? =D

im not so bothered about smokers, as long as they dont try to get me to try one, which no one has so far, so all is good
besides i can barely talk, im a pyro who lights incense because it "smells pretty" >_> only difference is i dont inhale it directly XD

Its easy, I'll just avoid you while you smoke. smoke around me, I might mention it. Since the smoking ban its great. When I get home after a night out my clothes no longer stink. The biggest surprise is that I no longer get a bad chest the day after a night out.

Snoke around my kid though and we'll have words, I'll not be conserned about your health either.

No, I don't lecture people who smoke. I figure they know what they're doing.
It pisses me off when people blow smoke at me for kicks, though. If someone does that to me, it's likely I will say something about it.
Three people in my family have died from lung cancer and I seriously do not want to go through that horrifying experience myself.

I don't have a problem with smokers, since most of my friends seem to do it. I have been known to take the occasional smoke myself, so yeah, no problem.

I don't tell people to not smoke. I mean if they do it, they know the possibilities, but it's up to them. They don't need me to run up to them and tell them to put it out.

People blowing smoke onto people is Rude, straight up.
If i see kids coming down the sidewalk while im smoking i'll wait for them to pass before I take another pull.
I also agree with the smoking ban, I've only ever smoked outside, cause i dont want my house to smell, and I carry listerine packs with me to not have smokers breath.

the golden rule is, "it's your smoke, not everyone elses, keep it that way"

yeah I smoke because I enjoy it and it's pretty nice when you're over stressed. I hate when people try to ruin that. I don't really get it from strangers but definately from friends.

Plus I don't know anyone that would try and make someone smoke... seems pretty pointless seeing as it's just wasting money on someone who doesn't want you too...

I absolutely HATE the stench of cigarette smoke.

However, I hate jumping on people for it because it achieves absolutely nothing and makes me look like a jackass.

Same as the vegetarian-thread:

Leave me alone and I won't bother you.
If you don't like me smoking near you, get the fuck away from me.

If it's my car, tough luck, you can always walk.
If it's not my car, it's up to the owner and I have no problem stopping every half hour to pop out for a smoke.
If the driver/owner won't allow for cig-breaks, tough luck for me, I either take my own car or not go wherever you guys are going.

I've smoked for two years now and i would say all things in moderations are ok. I've almost complately quit but occasionally smoke say at the pub or somthing like that, What i would say is that you are damaging your lungs, this cannot be repaired. But if your going to smoke compesnate for it, Exercise to increase your lung capasaty, and good diet to take the pressure of your kidnies and liver. If your going to smoke do this to limit the damage and keep yourself at aconstant, If you striclty adhere to a good health and fitness regieme you compensate for you smoking

and as a side note, everyone does somthing that is bad for them Drink, Smoke, Eat shitly or not do any exercise so on so forth we all do somethign that is bad for us. Just you must only choose one thing

Also the damage of second hand smoke is gratly exadurated

I don't know what I'd be classified as, I don't smoke, regularly. I have one occasionally to relieve the stress of year 12 and whatever. Because I don't smoke often or around non-smokers I don't ever get that lecture, but I have been with people when they've received it. One lady walked up to my then Girlfriend and told her to put it out, didn't ask, didn't say its bad for you just plain demanded that she put it out and that she had no right to smoke around her kids. We were at a bistro sitting outside, waiting for our food and my gf just looked at this woman and laughed. She then went and got the manager who told her where to stick it and that my gf was free to smoke outside.
