I dont like smoking, people who smoke... stink. To put it bluntly. You don't notice it when you're around smoke but when you're not it hits you like a wall of gross.

Oh my god this. So, so much. Once of my housemates smokes, which is her own business. But she frequently does it in the house, and when I come back home the stink is ridiculous. Genuinely overpowering. And it gets into everything and is so hard to get out, and I loathe it >.<

The thing is, when I confront her about it she denies that she's done it. The majority of smokers have absolutely no idea how much they and everything they smoke around stink. Might be something for some of them to consider, I guess. I find it hilarious when kids honestly believe their parents don't know they smoke, because nine times out of ten you can smell it a mile off. No amount of gum or breath mints is going to get the smell out of your hair and clothes.

I think smoking them outside should be curbed, or at least reduced in public areas, but not banned.

I dislike when I go to somewhere like a hospital or shopping centre and I have to walk through the cloud of smoke caused by all the smokers.

We banned smoking in any public building, as in a bilding with access to the public. Things feel so much cleaner now, when you go abroad you notice just how awful it is when people smoke in an enclosed area.

OP, how does something being natural or unnatural change hoow good/bad it is? Also how does Weed help people, aside from medicinal uses? (genuine question).

We didn't ban literacy though.

I know smoking inside is banned, I mean outside. If you need to get into one of these buildings the smokers just crowd around the entrance so you have to walk through a cloud of smoke to get into the building.

I did nothing to invite your scorn so please stop being such an unlike-able pedant. You cant tell people they cant do something entirely because it inconveniences you, I dont know where you go because I dont see smokers around much and when I do they tend to be pretty considerate/avoidable by getting out of the way. I dont know why Im responding since your being pretty unpleasant.

I'm perfectly fine with making cigarette smoking "illegal" in public as long as the government uses the tax revenew from cigarettes to build smoking designated areas. That way, smokers can still smoke in public but they'd be segregated from non smokers.

Pretty much this. I really don't care what people put into their bodies, I only ask that none of it goes into me.

Banning cigarettes wouldn't help shit. If you want people to stop smoking (which I do, but note that is different from forcing people to stop smoking, I just think it would be a good idea), you have to create a cultural attitude in which smoking is not cool. In the UK, this is starting to work, for every cool kid who smokes, you have a wheezing person who smokes a packet a day and is not many steps from dying. Not cool.

Plus, the intentionally ridiculous price of cigarettes is a serious put-off for anyone considering smoking.

Really, the bigger problem is alcohol. Scotland in particular has a MASSIVE problem with alcohol, the problem is we just live in a drinking culture. Drinking is a leisure activity in itself.

Weed is less harmful than cigarettes. At least weed help people in a way. That and it's natural unlike the thousands of chemicals in the average cigarette. And in what way does a cigarette help anybody. If you know a way please tell me. But they should just ban them without hesitation.

We all hear so much about the ridiculous quantities of additives in addition to the tobacco in cigarettes... Does anyone actually know why they're added in the first place? I mean, obviously smoking anything isn't going to do your lungs a whole lot of good, but surely in this day and age we could have come up with a slightly less damaging "recipe," or at least a way to reduce the amount of tar that builds up when you smoke...

I agree with your point, but the idea that marijuana is some sort of amazing drug that does no damage is, frankly, ridiculous.
