My fried Claire and I recently went to see a film (can't remember which film) which had a 15+ rating. They wouldn't let us in because she didn't have any ID on her. I'm 19. She's 22. We were well cheesed off, I can tell you.

I agree that the idea of asking a 15 year for I.D is a little bit stupid.
(this is in the UK btw) you cant get a provisional Driving license yet, a school card is not considered as 'proper' I.D due to it not being issued by the government, 'PROVE IT' age cards are expensive, look very amatuer and again are often not accepted as 'proper' I.D.

this leaves a passport. I personally never wanted to carry around something that valuable on my person day to day.

I fully agree on the idea of placing an age rating on films and games but not if people who are over age have considerable difficulty in proving their age.

Also as a student barman we are actually told to I.D girls who are a little bit iffy on age, a lot more than guys. this is because makeup can make a 16 year old girl look a good deal older, also girls chance their appearance a lot less than guys from 16 to 18.

Amusingly, they only ask IDs when I go to the cinema with friends. Also everything starts later when I'm around. Things also close earlier. Often the time that the movies are shown is also changed to a late hour when I plan to go.

I find it very amusing, really.

Thank goodness I am 16 now so I can go to every film now, that is why now the time the movie plays becomes inconvenient. I planned to go watch Public Enemies with some friends, having seen that it plays in the afternoon earlier. I want to confirm the hour for the date we want to go... BOOM! 19.25, yay no more buses to drive us there or back!
Oh well, perhaps a different movie... Amusingly EVERY movie that was even slightly interesting was shown in the late evening (yes, even the subbed version of Ice Age 3).
Such things happen a bit too often.

I'll spare everyone the still pending disaster of ordering an Alestorm T-shirt.

We're still talking about cinema ratings, right? Amusingly the 12+ cinema rating here is usually bloodier and less clothed than the 18+ video game rating. Oh PEGI, how silly you are.

I've been carded more frequently for games than I have for cigarettes here, but I guess that makes sense. I can only kill myself with smoking but at a young and impressionable age, GTAIV could lead to a rampage that would leave dozens dead or injured.

But yeah, we all had to deal with it, it sucks and it's crap but it really is what it is and isn't going away anytime soon. I got carded trying to see District 9, it was pretty annoying since I'm 19.
