it'll be shit, for one as a half-vampire Darren never gets healing spit, two if that weird guy is supposed to be Mr.Crepsley, it'll be shit, And three films of books are, almost without exception, shit. And it shouldn't be set in America that is also shit!

Vampires and movies don't mix well.
Unless the vampire is a badass, which doesn't seem to be the case.
or if it's in anime :p
Yeah, Alucard is pretty badass, but his name is so... stupid.
Alucard is a beast, and if you've seen Hellsing: Ultimate then you can say that with complete conviction...that guy was turned into dog food.

OT: The movie looks ok, but this is the only movie that we will get from this series. And we won't ever see anything from the Demonata. (Just got done with Book 9 btw, amazing...just like always.) But yeah, Darren Shan's books aren't meant for the big screen. But I'll still go and see it....and then come home and watch Hellsing.

When I look at a movie adaption of a book, I try to look at it as its own entity, and not let my judgments about the book influence my judgment about the movie.

From that viewpoint, it looks pretty cool.

Ha ha, I get it: "vampires"..."suck"... :p

...at any rate, it'll be yet another in the rash of teenie-angsty vampire movies/shows. It'll appeal to the 14-ish-year-olds and a handful of the parents who have to take their kids to see it.

For one of the better "rules" in vampirism, "no turning children", there sure were a lot of rules-breakers in these stories. Twilight, Vampire Diaries...but I guess they're the "gateway" books until the Harlequin romance novels come along.

Well, if they manage to stick to the books it'll be great. I freaking love Darren Shan. Hope they make a Demonata series too.

The question is whether this will be a good adaptation or a bad one. a Lord of the Rings or a Golden Compass, if you will.

This movie will most definitely suck, but I have to give it one point for getting me interested enough to read the series. Probably one of the best series I have read in the last year; blows those twilight chumps and harry potter right out of the water. The sad fact of the matter is most movies based off of books suck. Still if the movie looks interesting to you, do yourself a favor and just read the books. All of them only took me about 3-4 days to finish and they are well worth the read.

The trailer looks funny, so I'll go see it - I'm not expecting a serious movie, but a dark comedy. Saw it when I went to see Dorian Gray (also an amazing adaptation which breaks the theory "British book adaptations suck horribly"), and it made me wanna watch the movie.

Mind you I didn't even realise it was based on a book, so I've no knowledge of the canon behind it.

Demonata is my favorite series But it would probably be rated R, hell he finds his dad decapitated and his sister split in half
