Civ V GOTY, Torchlight 2, Witcher 2 or Mark of the Ninja

Steam has it's sale thingy still going on and I can only buy 2 of them due to my 25 dollar limit. What would you suggest I buy and why? Or do you have any suggestions of other games that would be a better investment of my money?

I have a lot of indie titles right now as well as I cleared a good amount of them from my list.

The Witcher II and Mark of the Ninja are both solid choices

It depends on what you like really.

If you own Civ IV, Civ V is probably not worth the buy. But otherwise it's a solid 4x game if you also get the God's and Kings expansion.

TL2 is a good Diablo clone. Not as tight in the design as D3 but with more options. The story is not spectacular and the graphical design a little whimsical, but the gameplay is fun and it's a better single player game than D3 due to selectable difficulty levels.

Witcher 2 is a great action RPG with emphasis on story. Good characters and an immersive setting. It features a few different story branches but is otherwise mostly linear. Control is a little sluggish and some of the boss fights could do without quick time events but great game overall.

I haven't tried Mark of the Ninja, but I am tempted.

I bought "Mirror's Edge" myself on Steam sale. If you haven't tried it, it's certainly worth consideration. If you are familiar with the AC serie, Mirror's Edge is a game solely about the same type of parkour mechanics, running on roofs and walls, jumping up and down stuff. Very good campaign, unique graphical style, but probably not much replayability for most people.

I agree on Witcher 2 and Mark of the Ninja, others are ok but these two stand out with unique gameplay and Witcher also with a very unique story.

Mark of the Ninja is a solid experience but it is short(not a bad thing). I would also get Torchlight 2, I wouldn't buy Wicther 2 as Wicther 2 story has been plagiarized.

Torchlight 2 and Witcher 2 are the only ones of the four I've really played but considering I also consider both fantastic, I'd highly recommend them.

Does the Witcher 2 have a bad story? yes, is it plagiarized? well you going to have to explain that one. Are you meaning how the characters and setting are based of the series of Polish novels cause that's not plagiarizing and I believe they have permission.

The Witcher 2 should definitely be on of them. If you haven't played The Witcher, I suggest getting that as well.

Having played them all but Mark of the Ninja I'm getting the most time out of Civ 5 and Torchlight 2. Loved the Witcher 2, but I think I'd prefer to have got Civ 5 or TL2 over it.

They're all vastly different though, so it's completely up to your own taste.

Andrzej Sapkowski has plagiarized works of Michael Moorcock, enough for Micheal to have a good case in court.

That is sadly all I can find for proof(wasn't only going to go off of words of a friend). Best would be to read the stories and compare but this is all I have.

The only ones I've played on that list are Witcher 2 and Torchlight 2. I super-duper-ultra-highly recommend Torchlight 2. The game is fantastic and updates are pretty frequent and even include some large increases. The gameplay is very similar to Diablo (it was made by some of the makers from Diablo 2), but without the bullshit plaguing Diablo 3. Playing with friends is a real blast, and I would even go as far as recommending the 4-pack if you have friends willing to play the game with you.

The Witcher 2 on the other-hand seemed to overwhelm me. I couldn't really get into it. Maybe I just couldn't get the hang of the combat. But the makers of the game are good people that deserve the money, to me anyway. It just feels like the combat relies too much on sword play (while I prefer a Mage-type character) and too much emphasis on poisons and potions (which must be used before battles, btw) in order to succeed. Again, this is just from someone that played a couple hours and gave up. I intend to eventually go back and play it, so fans of the game don't send me replies after replies of hate mail.

I loved Mark of the Ninja. If you're even remotely interested in stealth games it's definitely worth a try. Also it looks great.

Witcher 2 is a decent RPG. The combat system isn't that responsive but otherwise the story is pretty interesting and a step up from the first game.

It's not that short, it took me around 10h to beat it which is more than appropriate for a game of such caliber. Now Shank games, those were short.

That idiot moorcock really pisses me off. Ooh I invented the white haired anti hero, using the white wolf words means your story is exactly the same except worse!

Sapkowksi writes actually interesting stories, not ones about broody chosen ones.

And then someone actually refutes him on his own forum, and he ignores it. "They xeroxed it, they xeroxed it."

Just make a list of everything he thinks is stolen or copied from his own work. Somebody here thinks he's the centre of the world... hah!


But ontopic. Yes, get the Witcher 2.

Witcher 2 was one of the best RPG stories I have ever had the pleasure to immerse myself in. The Poles know all about what feudal life would be like and that game shows it.

If anything it's worth buying to encourage CDProjekt to keep shining like the crazy diamond it is.

Witcher 2 is one of my all time favourite games.

If you have any interest in RPG's at all the it's a must. The Witcher lore is pretty decent as well.

Plus CDProjekt are a great bunch of folk.
