So, that went actually went a bit under the radar, as i haven't seen it on much gaming news sites.

Behold, next Civ expension Civilization VI : Gathering storm

https://civilization.com/

So basically, 2K add a dynamic map to civilization. Rivers can flood, which do damage to your city, but also get bonus for growing food after the flood.

Volcanoes aqre now present and they can erupt, destroying everything... but leaving afterward a nice fertile tile.

You can also improve your city, by burning coal or petrol to get electricity ! but burning coal produce CO2, and too much CO2 will provoke climate changes.

another nice addition is canals. So now if you have to seas only separated by a few tiles of land, you can put a city there, and build canal so that you ships will be able to cross between the two seas.

The game now also name rivers volcanoes and other landmark with a name from the civilization that discovered them (england first river will be the Thame for exemple)

there's a nice gameplay video here :

So, what do you guys think of that one ? Will you try it ?

Civ expansion are always worth picking, the expansion to diplomacy with the congress alone will be worth it.

But I'm a bit disappointing, the two aspect that I would like the game to improve would be trade (trade was probably the most important aspect that shaped human history yet it's always feel like an after though in these game) and expanding the district system. City should change quite radically after the industrial revolution, with a massive increase in tile food yield and the ability to construct a lot more district, by the end of the game city should have only a few tile that are still bare and majority of the tile should be various district, these district should also have stronger neighboring effect, especially the placement of neighborhood.

Looks pretty interesting. Me and others ironically spent the pre-announcement livestream discussing what we liked and disliked about Civs 4-6, and most people agreed that 6 was a huge step up over 5.

Also, an anonymous game-tester for the DLC gave us all the details about the new factions, though annoyingly we didn't ask them about the new governments. Dido makes a return with the Phoenicians, and Kupe shows up with the Maori.

Interesting. I am looking forward to it.

It's also good to hear that spies will be reworked, that was one aspect of civ 6 that is rather lacklustre.

I have finally, after many years, almost got to the endpoint of a Civ IV Caveman to Cosmos game. Once that happens, I will probably give Civ V a go. Some time in the late 2020's I will probably get around to Civ VI.

Expension?

"EXPENSION?!"

Bloody hell, how'd we get to a sixth civilization if we couldn't get correct spelling along the way? 0_0
