Clannad......What just happened?

Ok so I just finished watching a Clannad marathon (which included the sequel series, After Story) and as sad and depressing as that series was. The ending gives me the biggest sense of confusion as to what just happened.

So I ask you my friends. Was that the actual ending or am I missing something?

In the dream world, the robot was Tomoya. The girl was Ushio. It was their "afterlife" after Ushio died in the snow and Tomoya died shortly afterwards out of sheer despair.

Using the balls of light, gathered from the many hardships Tomoya experienced over the course of the story, Ushio sends him back in time to prevent Nagisa's death, and the three live happily ever after.

Not the most sensible ending in the world, but who cares.

Hmmm. Well that's fine by me. It is an epic series

I watched the first episode of Clannad: After Story, after watching the regular Clannad anime, and then just turned it off and never watched it again, it was just too depressing.
