I apologise to Trivun, who seems to be a fairly decent chap, for the behaviour of my fellow leftist Kevvers, who seems to be giving us a bad name. The main reason I fear the Tories is that they will force cutbacks on the NHS or dispose of it entirely, much as Thatcher attempted to do. This frightens me to a degree unplumbable by normal means, as it means that we will have in essence regressed back to the 1930s, ruined our economy and betrayed our people.

Aside from healthcare, welfare and public education, I really don't mind. I only care about the important issues.

@Danzaivar: You are an idiot. You have no understanding of Keynesian deficet financing, you critique the man for being adaptable as he changed his policies, and are generally taking your entire rant straight from the pages of the Daily Mail. I hereby deem you unfit to comment on Mr Brown's handling of the economy until you grow up and gain at least a basic understanding of economics.

BBC television presenter Jeremy Clarkson has apologised for calling British Prime Minister Gordon Brown a "one-eyed Scottish idiot".

I don't see the problem. Everything Jezza said was a truth (bar the idiot thing; that's just opinion).

Gordon Brown is blind in one eye and is Scottish...how is that insulting the Scots or blind people? Did Jezza say all blind/Scots were idiots? No, he said that Gordon Brown, a Scottish, one-eyed man, was an idiot.

Nothing more, nothing less.
This.
I'm not entirely sure we even have free speech in this country.
With no written constitution, we don't have a bill of rights telling us what we can do, we just have various laws telling us what we can't. So we technically don't have a right to free speech?

At any rate, I wish people would stop getting so pissed off at these stupid little things, everyone should be entitled to an opinion, and besides that Clarkson doesn't mean half the things he says, its his brand of humour.

Don't read the Daily Mail, but thanks for disregarding my opinion because you don't agree with it. If we're labelling people I hereby declare yours a defence straight from BBC News and unfit for comment until you read up on what happened to Weimar Germany and Zimbabwe currently.

You care to explain or link an article explaining how 6 months of recession should lead to doubling national debt and consideration to inflating debt away (Quantitative Easing is the current spin word I think), after 16 years of straight growth? I understand and applaud a politician for being flexible, but you don't have something labelled 'Golden Rules' which are your foundation for a sound economy and then throw them away the moment they would mean you need to restrict spending.

I'm not saying that the Tories have the answer (I'm from around Yorkshire, so I get why people don't like em) or even the Lib Dems do. But I don't think the tax and spend party is the right party for the country when the amount to spend is going to shrink, a lot.

-Source: John Maynard Keynes: The General Theory of Money, Interest and Employment. Buy it, read it, and then comment. I did not go through the torture of doing my AS and A level Economics in a single year to have to explain basic economic theory to every Tom, Dick and Harry.

-Edit: And I happen to live only a couple of hundred miles south of the Zimbabwaen border, and my history on the Weimar republic is fine. So don't try to critique my reasoning.

I'm trying to find out what all the fuzz is about. I'm not succeeding.

I conclude that this "scandal" is of as much importance as the birthmark on my bum.

There is nothing to discuss. Noone will emerge any wiser from this. Enlightenment will not ensue. This is a storm on a glass of water.

With that said: Awesome comment from him. Booh hiss to Brown.

It's true, we have no written consitution to say we have freedom of speech. We just assume and hope it's one of those unwritten givens being that are supposedly a free and democratic country. (but laws erroding that have been made anyway).

This is just another case of papers wanting to sell papers. Because no one reads papers anymore for information (24/7 internet, rolling news) they can only sell moral opinions, hence your typical daily mail CAMPAIGN of anguish at anything that may possibly offend the 50-80s demographic of it's readership.

Plus everyones so used to voting people off x-factor, their first instinct is to reach for a phone and complain to someone if they've been told by a rag to be offended.

Now the BBC is so frightened of any back lash, it's all too ready to get the big red pen of censorship out.

Plus I'm sure any Piers Morgan owned rags were only too happy wave this story around to get the geriatrics in a frenzy. (Clarkson punched him a while back)

Clarkson is the latest victim of our countries ridiculous "Free Speech" restrictions.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinions as long as your opinion is the one that follows the BBC's, the governments, and every group in the country.

I hate Britain.
And if the SAS come bursting through the windows because I have offended the Government then I will have proved my point.
