It's great to see this program thriving!

In all honesty, I think the program adds a great sense of progression and orientation to the classroom. Not to mention a sweet persona that graduates with you.

So how much time does this take away from the lesson plan? I don't know about the rest of you, but when I was in middle and high schools my teachers always seemed pressed for time.

I'm not sure if the "perks" send the right message in the long run. I can't imagine many bosses being receptive to letting their employees take an extra ten minute break or eat while on the clock.

Also, this might lesson the importance of learning for its own sake. Will there still be the same spark of excitement in learning about one's favorite topic when the student is preoccupied with the game?

Look, I'm not advocating this be thrown under the bus. It may have potential, and it appears it may already be delivering (albeit short-term) results. I'm just someone that treats forms of "gamification" with caution for reasons mentioned in the video below:
