Classes or races you don't play as in RPGs

Mage classes. Sure, they pack a lot of power, but they're generally horrible on defense and evasion. Plus, I don't like having to deal with casting times for my attacks. Supplemental magic is fine, but I don't want it to get in the way of my killing.

Melee classes with really slow attack rates. Generally a 2-handed weapon class. I just feel too vulnerable between attacks, and missing means not dealing any damage for long periods of time.

Classes who's main weapon would be considered a blunt weapon (Maces, hammers, clubs, etc). I just prefer slashing or piercing damage, and the look of a good sharp edge, though such a choice is generally purely aesthetic on both counts.

And, I generally don't like ranged attack classes unless they can be useful at close range with melee attacks if needed, or distance doesn't alter their attack abilities. Or, if I'm playing with other people, so as to not have to worry about being engaged by the enemy.

As far as races: I generally don't like the muscle head races, unless I'm going for a powerhouse character and I can augment their usual slowness and/or low evasion. And, I never like the tiny person races. They tend to be suited for mage classes which I never play, and are too squishy for anything else. Also, I just don't like being so small in a battle.

I mostly play as humans (not really sure why, they're always just a happy medium though), and I will rarely - if ever - play a stealth class (rogue, etc) in stuff like Dragon Age: Origins. Play time is usually fairly evenly split between Mages and Fighters. In games like Oblivion its usually stealth characters or warriors.

Tends to be the brute classes or races that pour everything into physical, so pretty much Orcs in most RPGs. I like having spells on the side or some variety with light armours and small weapons. A fast character is just the way I roll xD

I tend to avoid playing healers or buffers, I do prefer to be either on the front lines with a sword and shield or (preferably) with 2 swords and having a a small range of attack spells or blasting my enemies to pieces with spells. I will play a pure ranged character such as a ranger but only in a table top setting with party as back up I'll also play a stealth and social based character but again only in a table top setting. Not a fan of playing Dwarves, Orcs or Gnomes, I am more partial at least in a D&D setting to playing Half Dragons or Half Celestials and I do like Celestial races in D&D such as the Aasimar, Elves and Drow are also fun

I rarely play mages. Spell-casting just doesn't interest me. On the other hand, I love playing different races--hurray for orcs and dwarves.

Classes, I dont bother with dexterity based classes. Rogue, assassin, Ranjas, etc I typically go with a Tank or a priest class

Races I wont play humans (Unless there is a specified reason to do so, such as Dragon Age Origins, Or no other choice like Dragon Age 2) because I really dont get the point of playing a fantasy (or scifi for that matter) game where you play a role, and playing the same mundane thing you get to be every day.

Something else that came to mind is that I don't like to make a "well rounded" character. I tend to focus on a few skills and max them, even if it means I'll have a crippling weakness in some other area.

I've never played a tabletop RPG, but I'll tell you what, in every Fallout game I've played, I've never played the "Run-and-gun", "Blow-Shit-Up", "Load myself with best armor and minigun" guy.
Likewise, I've never relied on melee or unarmed at all.
The "speech only" type character was one of the most fun ways to play the old Fallouts. More games should have that option.
Also, in fallout 3, a stealth+unarmed character can be a lot of fun. With the proper perks and the deathclaw gauntlet, you can get your critical rate to 100%.

Not entirely serious, maybe.

I try to sample a bit of everything. But I generally have trouble getting into mage classes. I just suck at them and find myself dying a lot. I eventually do get the hang of casters, but I just have a lot of difficulty "feeling" them at first.

I gravitate towards warrior/cleric type classes. I enjoy the support role and having loads of buffs to apply to my party, and having a lot of armor strapped on.

I don't mind playing as rogues/rangers either. They can be pretty fun to me if I'm in the mood for them.

As for races, I never pick humans or gnomes.

I never really play as a straight up mage because there's just something fun about running up to an enemy and smashing their head in with a blunt object.

i dislike rogues and such as they are the typical class that noobs pick and feel good with it, especialy in multiplayer games (Scout in Savage , any melee Agi Hero in DotA)

Im also not fond of healers even if i played some in MMORPGs i tend to stick to Barbarians and Necromancers, or Barbarian Necromancers (Too bad there are not many games where that combination is any good)

as for Races i kind of dislike Dwarves. I love Vikings but Dwarves AND Elves usualy are just too cliche.
Also im not too fond of feline Races as Vahshir in EQ or Kahjit in TES.

I took up the Deathclaw Gauntlet after I got the Chinese Stealth Armor. That made the game pretty fun, even though when it came to the Super Mutants, I'd always preferred dropping a grenade in their pants.
Of course, I ended up giving my Gauntlet to Moira after I picked up the Infiltrator from the Pitt. That thing was amazing. Three sneak attack criticals at once and I was in love.

Well this is odd, in video games I hate playing healers and yet in DnD and other tabletops I like playing Cleric (altho most of the time I'll go Cleric/Fighter).

I know that people don't like it when I play a rogue, cause I'll probably get the group into trouble (what? I like GOOOOOOOOOOOLD).

I'd go with Bard for DnD tho, never played and never really wanted too.

Pure fighters/soldiers, I find that role very boring, especially with their (usually) considerable lack of skills. Oh yeah, and almost never human. And male.

In other news: German - f*** yeah!

Any non-humans,non-full spellcasters are out as an option for me.Actually throw in Clerics in there as well.So I guess, Human Wizards,Sorcerers and Druids only.

I rarely play magic users, and I never play elves. I don't know, elves just annoy me in how they're always the innocent victims and ever so pretty and boo f*cking hoo. Also, in fantasy games where there are fifteen different races, you can bet your ass that six of them are going to be elves with different paint jobs.

No, goblins, dwarves and half-orcs for me, thanks.

Paladins. I don't play them at all and frankly you light wielding nancys can go jump off a bridge.

That said I'll usually play anything, most likely a tank. I used to play mages 24/7 but I found warriors (specifically tanking types) better suited to me.
