While I trying to find time to create the second Part of Archaeologists in Videogames, let's see what we know about the classic examples of Knights in Shining Armor.
Now what I mean by "Classic Knight in Shining Armor":

-A noble Hero, always risk his life to save the others who need help.
-Take place in Fantasy/Medieval period.
-To save the princess.
-To defeat any kind of Evil force.

Here are some strong Examples:

Dragon Lair

Castle Crashers

Last Knight

Knightfall

Zelda

Let see what can we find!!!

List are here:

The first video game persona I thought of:

Arthur (Japanese: アーサー Hepburn: Āsā?), also known as Sir Arthur, is a fictional character and the primary protagonist from Capcom's Ghosts 'n Goblins video game series. He first appeared in the 1985 video game Ghosts 'n Goblins, and has been well received since then. In the Ghosts 'n Goblins series, Arthur is introduced as a knight who needs to rescue Princess Prin Prin (Princess Guinevere in the English version) who was kidnapped by Satan, king of Demon World.

This kinda works:

He is a hero to some extant, he tries to help those in need for better or for worse.

He lives in a medieval world, quite a realistic one at that.

Spoiler for The Witcher 2, at some point Geralt's girlfriend at the time, Triss, gets kidnapped and you can choose to save her (but if you don't she gets saved anyway).

At least in the third game, who Geralt has to defeat is pretty evil.

-----$$$$$
-Take place in Fantasy/Medieval period.
-To save the princess.
-----does Anora count?
-To defeat any kind of Evil force.

- a noble hero, even if slightly on the thick side
- fantasy (it's got fantasy in the title) + steampunk
- all he cares about is protecting the princess
- to defeat anyone (good or evil) who comes near his beloved princess!

That could only be: Adelbert Steiner of FFIX fame!

Does Alistar from Dragon Age count? He is a noble hero really, I think. It does take play in the fantasy/medieval period. He kind of does save the princess and he does defeat the evil force. Well, alongside my Warden, who is also the female knight in shining armour I suppose.

To an extent; Final Fantasy IV. Cecil more or less fits that role. IV was very fantasy-ish and Rosa wasn't technically a princess but still fit into that the princess role.

Eh...sorta in a fucked up kinda way I guess he is, but i wouldn't call him a classic/traditional by any stretch.

Anywho OT: Locke from FF6 is kinda standard.

Does Solaire of Astoria count? He's a nice friendly guy in shining armor that only ever seems to want to help the main character.

Actually......this isn't a bad idea.
At first I had for sure Dark Souls SHOULDN'T be in the list, but this specific one.......I see why you want to be in the list.

There's several from the Baldur's Gate series: Ajantis, Keldorn, Minsc...

Ico and Wander (Shadow of Colossus) actually fulfills all the requirements despite not looking very "knightly" (Wander even has a horse)

Frog from Chrono Trigger is a perfect example.

Not really 'classic' but the mentality of it?

Isaac Clarke from Deadspace 1?

He knows that his girlfriend is dead, but still pushes that away in his mentality so much that it would already be at the verge of being psychologically sick, nevertheless he doesnt give up hope and still goes there trying to save her/see it for himself.

Weren't the Castle Crashers kind of gender ambigous?

Or am I just stupid (I am, but that's not entirely called for).

My one is obviously The Batter from OFF.

-Suddenly appears out of nowhere to save the land
-Main goal is to save a child (to be exact, his fostered son)
-Other main goal to rid the land (of Oz?) of 4 evil tyrants.

Up until the last 20 minutes.

(donno how to hide spoilers, havent posted that often so if someone wants me to hide it please just write me a mail explaining shortly how to hide things in spoilers....but if youve read this far you atleast know that you should skip the following paragraph)

-------------spoiler-----------

He knows that his girlfriend is dead but still pushes that away in his mentality so much that it would already be at the verge of being psychologically sick but nevertheless doesnt give up hope and still goes there trying to save her.

-----end of spoiler, sorry-----
Class spoilers like ['spoiler=(text)] and end with [/spoiler]. Obviously get rid of the apostrophe, and the text is optional.

Can't get much shinier than this:

Though considering that he's using an equally big evil as Soul Edge, that might jeopardize his listing as a purely altruistic white knight.
