Has anyone mentioned the companion cube yet? When ever i see these threads normally it is in it due to the fact it is a noble hero (he weighs down buttons for doors and he also gets shot) he saves a princess ( the main character) and it aids the player destroy GLaDOS (the evil force)

Can't get much shinier than this:

Though considering that he's using an equally big evil as Soul Edge, that might jeopardize his listing as a purely altruistic white knight.
Yep at first I thought I use them in the second list, but.....

Taking in account he killed his own father and being part of a thief gang isn't very noble....

I can't think of a guy more stereotypically "good" than this guy:

Seriously, this guy bros around with archangels, can purify evil with a sweep of the hand, selflessly throws himself into certain-death experiences to help a friend, and is implied to literally become an angel. He was a pretty good guy. No princesses, though.

EDIT: Actually, he totally does risk everything to save a girl who is fated to be the chosen warrior or whatever. So, that might count.

From what I remembered, that wasn't intentional, was it?

Don't know about Link ...

Shouldn't a Knight in shining armor actually have to wear armor?

Link is more like your typical adventurer.

Yep, but doesn't change the fact

he and the gang were stealing and killing people.

Yeah, but Link is a VERY strong exception because he really fill all the needs for this List.
Another example is from the game "Super Don Quixote":

He is not even close to resemble a classic knight, but he is a hero trying to save a princess from an Evil Wizard.

But he went through change, took on a great burden, and now he's a good guy. And he IS shiny.

He's perfectly willing to risk his life for his friends. He's noble, valiant, self-sacrificing, etc. He, essentially, has all the qualities of The Knight in Shining Armor.

SHAME ON ALL OF YOU! Forgetting THE "Knight In Shining Armor" himself:

Adelbert Steiner, this man will do what is right and is one of my favorite characters in video games because of how he learns the kingdom he supports isn't infallible but his sense of duty and honor is never diminished for it. I love this guy.

If only I hadn't mentioned him in my previous post, and in case you missed that, OP's got him on his link/list.

But who reads all posts these days, really? :)

Nobody has mentioned Erdrick/Loto from the first Dragon Quest (aka Dragon Warrior) game http://dragonquest.wikia.com/wiki/Hero_%28Dragon_Quest_I%29 http://dragonquest.wikia.com/wiki/Erdrick
Haven't played the other games in the series but I assume there are similar characters there to.

Dragon's Dogma pretty much exactly. Noble hero, saves a princess, castles and 'owt', the whole game is about defeating the dragon.

I still like Ike.
He's what, 17? He's finally taking up some on-the-job training as a mercenary, and the princess just kinda stumbles into his arms. He escorts the princess around the entire known world over the course of a year, culminating in personally leading the invasion army to retake the princess's homeland.
He becomes the fiercest combatant in all the land and winds up felling multiple skilled generals in one-on-one combat, ends hundreds of lives and saves thousands more. No one ever told him it was impossible; he does it all simply because that's what his father would have done.
Don't screw with this kid.

EDIT: found another direct link for the image; the last one was from a site that didn't take too well to people embedding it.
That's what I get for a quick Google image search I guess.

Sorry, but I can't see the image you posted.
Can you try again?

For an older example, I would say the main character of Shining Wisdom. Old game for the Sega Saturn in which you become a knight and try and foil the plot of a group of unsavory fellows. Princess saving becomes part of the quest, but is not the end goal exactly. I loved playing the game when I was younger, but I never did beat it because we did not own a memory drive for the Sega Saturn.

http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20111208175907/berserk/images/a/a3/Griffith_Portrait.jpg

Griffith of the Berserk manga/anime (Golden Age arc)

Would die for anyone in his band of mercenaries (even battled a so called "immortal" to save Gutts).
Medieval fantasy world with monsters and magic (though revealed only later in the story).
Saves the princess
and her virginity from her funky papa by taking it first
not to mention the entire kingdom.
Does the kingdom he is at war with count as an evil force? If not, there's always Zodd the Immortal.

And then he fucks up by fucking the princess, gets fucked up and fucks up his friends. That's why I only mention the Golden Age arc. Later on his incarnation is considered a messiah by the people and continues in his image of a knight in shining armor (and he does some serious polishing on his armor to boot) but the reader knows of the Eclipse and so he has the role of an antagonist.
I though of nominating Gutts, the protagonist, but he isn't exactly noble. Nor does he usually help others. Or save princesses. He does defeat all kinds of Evil, though.

Edit: Wait, I forgot it's about videogames. There are two Berserk games, does that count?
Other than that I also give my vote to Solaire of Astora

You uh, you haven't finished Berserk's Golden Age arc have you? Besides Griffith isn't in a video game.
