Every day when I take the bus home, I pass a park where, without fail, there is a group of people around a couple of park benches. I never actually got off the bus to see what happening, but I assume that it's a game of chess or mahjong (it's a Chinese neighborhood). So I started to wonder, will I be like that, 50, 60 years from now? Will I one day be one of those people in the park, playing the games of my generation while the new generation of gamers looks in awe of our antiquated methods? I thought of a future, where plasma TVs and Xbox 360s and PS3s are installed in every park (much like those stone chess tables of today), and when old people go to the park to enjoy a good, ol' match of CoD4 or Halo or Killzone 2...

Fellow Escapists, what games do you imagine that you would be playing, long after they have be surpassed by the Xbox 1440/PS9?

Lol, that's a good idea. You think people will play it when holograph tech finally comes out?

Starcraft. People will still be playing it a long time since now. Even with starcraft 2 coming out, a large portion of gamers, particularly the professionals in Korea, won't switch over.

Aww, your vision of the future is so much happier than mine! I figured that once we're all old and smelly, the world won't care much about us anymore. If there are any games at all, it'd be stuff like, Bejeweled or possibly some Mario. I would dream about Katamari, but it's not likely.

One can dream...

Anyway, I imagine Katamari would be more like those ball-rolling games that only old people know how to play while everyone else just looks on for about 5 seconds before edging away.

Thunderdome
The Post-Apocalyptic "Mad Max" Thunderdome? Or this?
Probably the second one, because it would be awsome to see a bunch of old people climbing on that thing.

But I say it will be whatever you want.

Youtube hologram and you will see some awesome demonstrations. Now how that technolodgy can become cheap and rugged enough to be put outdoors for people to use is beyond me. I suspect since the environment will be destroyed by the time we get old we'll just live in a pod ala The Matrix.

That Star Wars game is called Dejarik. (I read the books)

And I think people will be playing Tetris in parks 50 years from now. With actual pieces that you pull randomly out of a bag.

Starball. Small anti-grav fields hold players in a large oblong. Each player has a strong magnetic field generator that can be switched between negative and positive. The ball rotates at regular timed intervals between negative and positive. The goals for each of the two teams are always set as either positive or negative.

The goal of the game is to get a player through the opponents goal portal with the ball, physical contact is allowed but blows are not.

Each team's uniforms is based on patterns, the colouring of the these patterns changes when a player changes charge.

Tactics are varied but based around using fast field switches to accelerate players or passes.
