and well, that's pretty much what bugs me also. especially, because I just don't get it. Why do they think that our medium hasn't evolved a bit in the last 30 years and is still about levels and high scores? I bet there are enough people out there who just wouldn't believe you, if you told them about the concepts of, say GTA and Fallout. You know? Going through an open, connected world and interacting with characters while experiencing a story instead of going from the beginning of a level to the end a few times and then punching 3 letters in a highscore table?
OK, that's probably enough material for another thread, but it just really starts to piss me off. I even watched a TV show where the host and his guests played on the "Playstation Wii"...ugh...
Besides that, there's also the portrayal of nerds and geeks in movies. As some of you already pointed out, even if the nerds are the main characters and not just the "funny/techy/eccentric/fat/any-combination-of-that-and-more sidekick", they often still achieve their goal by, in the end, stopping to be nerds. Besides the obvious stupidity of this message ("You can only be happy if you stop being yourself") it bears the question: If they can change so easily from geek-mode to getting the girl or whatever they wanted, why didn't they do it in the first place? They have been in this situation a few years before the movie started, so why now?
Oh, and the "fact" that people seem to limit their romantic relationships to their own race. I can't really remember seeing a couple that's part black and part white, for example. It's only a pet peeve, especially because I hear that this is actually quite common in the real world too (I don't have too many non-white acquaintances), but it still kinda bugs me...
