In regards to that, I can see where you're coming from. Heck, there's people that watch cartoon shows and try to figure out if there's any shady political satire within them (cartoons like Chowder I mean), and then rave when they claim to find something offensive or something. But hey, let the rabble talk amongst themselves, I say.
Whether or not Clockwork Orange or Eyes Wide Shut (something I'll have to see, along with your other recommendation) is mean to be artsy fartsy and incredibly intellectual I suppose is something for debate, but... I'm not one to debate that with seeing as I know relatively little about the subjects at hand.
However, you can't deny that Clockwork wasn't entertaining, at least... right?
