Just want to point out that the slightly more fabulous chicken that was the velocoraptor would still eat your face if it was in front of you and hungry. We would have had a lot more to fear from them if we walked next to them than, say a T-rex, to whom we would not even count as a snack.

Is that what a velociraptor most likely looked like? That's majorly disappointing yet fucking brilliant.

They did have feathers, yes, and actual velociraptors were quite small. Much smaller than in the movies.

But I think it's also worth noting that at least one other member of the raptor family were about the size demonstrated in the movie, and likely were the type those were based on. I believe they were even known as velociraptors around the time the book was written? Might be wrong about that part though.

Still, two meter tall dinosaurs with massive scary claws on their feet did exist.
