As the title suggests, this tread is all about video games that are a guilty pleasure for you. A game that if asked, you would swear up and down that you would never, EVER, be caught playing, and yet you secretly enjoy the hell out of it.

What I want from you, dear Escapists, is the following:

1- The name/title of the sinful game
2- Why you like it
3- Why you would likely kill anyone who witnessed you playing said game

Here is mine:

1- The Sims
2- It's so darn addictive... Also I like playing God. Nuff said.
3- People who know me expect me to be playing shooters or hack-and-slash type games (anything bloody and violent, really), not some game made for suburban housewives with too much free times on their hands. This would ruin my reputation... Ruin it, I tell you!(I'm paranoid, alright?)

Ok, your turn!!

I'm sorry but if I'd rather die than admit to have enjoyed playing... I wouldn't go and tell people, would I?

Anyway, I can agree with The Sims. I went through a phase with that game waaaay back when.

That's probably the only one, although I also wouldn't openly admit to having been, once upon a time, a huge WoW geek - not to non gamers anyway.

Well the only one that WOULD come to mind is Bejeweled. But even then I don't really hide it.

nothing, really. i'm not ashamed of anything if i actually like it, regardless of how others perceive it.

on the other hand, that might be put to the test if i had ever played any of the Olsen Twins games and somehow enjoyed them. which i've totally done neither. stop looking at me like that.

So anyone who posts a reply in this thread is either a lier or legitimately suicidal?
Take your pick.

Also, it sounds to me like you're trying to change subject. Any particular reason why? ;)

Well, I figure it would be okay because we're all technically anonymous.

What's someone gonna do? Track down all the people you know and spread the word?

That being said, I can't think of anything. Of course, I don't play a lot compared to watching others play a lot.

When I was a kid, I played the Spiace Girls game on my sisters playstation. It was kind of fun...

There's no game that I would be ashamed to tell people I enjoy. If I enjoyed a game, then it's a good damn game no matter what anyone says.

Besides, I have way better taste than everyone else in this thread, and therefore have never played a bad game.

Ok, I played Toy Story 2 the game on the N64, but damn it, I was just a kid, I was allowed to make mistakes at that age.

I find the Harry potter games to be really decent, but I'll never admit it to anyone.

Evony, I played it for a bit out of morbid curiosity.

It was alright for a while, then I realized that once you've destroyed or chased away all your neighbors within a reasonable distance, that's it, it's over. Nothing more to do but wait for another server to open up and do it again.

I wasn't interested anymore.

Rapelay. Somebody had to say it. It would have been the first response on 4chan.

There are a few, but the most obvious two candidates are N3 and Guild wars.
Christ i hate even admitting that last one to myself.

Now you've got me all paranoid. *shifty eyes*

Er...Azada, I guess. I like puzzles. But I'm not that ashamed of playing it. Hmmm...I once played a Nancy Drew game. It was awful but killing Nancy in so many ways was fun.

Honestly, I can't think of any. I have no real guilty pleasures when it comes to video games; even if some of the games I enjoy are pretty... questionable (to point out an example, I own My World, My Way; a rather decent DS Dungeon crawler/RPG. The boxart, however, makes it look like some generic game "for girls"). But, hey, I don't care how others react to the games I play - I'm having fun, so where's the problem?
