I was dragged into a club by classmates once, got my drink spiked, almost got raped, and have stayed clear of such establishments ever since.
Does anyone else find it exceedingly bad that whenever clubs are discussed on forums someone being almost raped pops up in the first 3 pages?

Clubs are horrible places, at least from what i've experience. I much prefer gigs and festivals. Always find a good group of people there. The douchebags are usually outnumbered too!

I used to go to a lot of raves and squat parties but occasionally I'd go to the odd club night put on by one of the soundsystems at a legal venue. Always had a good time with nice friendly atmosphere, friendly to non existant security and no more than £10 to get in, sometimes only £5.
Since everyone's on pills or powder of varying types you don't get many drunk people and it's really only ravers you get going to techno parties anyway. But standard 'clubs' and techno party venues are different things really.

I can't stand clubs, I don't mind a nice pub for a beer or a sports bar, but the whole enivronment is so forced in a club, the loud music, the douchbags and it's like the least efficient way to meet a nice person in my book. I try to avoid clubs these days because they also make me angry when I drink and I don't need that.

What I love and sadly probably won't experience as many anymore are house parties. Some good music, cheap booze, possibly a pool/spa, a lot of people you know but some new people to meet, talk to and if your lucky seduce. You can usually pass out on couch too if you have a big enough nighty too.

Clubs hate me and I hate them. The drinks are too expensive, the music sucks and the company is bad(most of them are stoned too). And I have to shout to carry a conversation.

...The women in that picture are more dressed than those I've seen though.

Yes, sticking to bars.
Yeah, this was the only picture I could find of a club that wasn't a staged photo of people waving their arms around in the air. The women were definitely not dressed like that where I went. That picture actually looks like some sort of exposition, or dog show.

I agree, bars are awesome. You can order a variety of drinks at a fraction of the cost, hold a conversation, and eat generally awesome pub food.
Totally agreed. I once went to a local clubbing place where I live and tried to order a Guinness.... The answer I got was no, but you can have a Murphy's where my reply was. Fuck you and your Murphy's im out! And then I went to a pub and got my goddamn Guinness. Not very classy, but I got seriously annoyed that they didnt have something basic like that. Also, the music was reeeeaaally loud and it was impossible to talk to people at all.

1. Yes.
2. No.
3. They are expensive and loud and I prefer a straight bar or a lounge. That said, they do have their place and sometimes I enjoy hitting the clubs with a group of friends.

Dude/Dudette... was anyone in cosplay?
Dudette lol, and yeah. I was in my Miku Hatsune cosplay I edited as a 'Raving Miku' and everyone was basically dancing in cosplay.

Sounds like possibly the best rave ever.
it was lol. I only went cause I got the tickets off of someone at the show who couldn't go. They were crazy expensive though.

Hell yeah, lets go... fuck... wrong club...
Was thinking the same thing! Nice club by the way do you have a name for your 'venue'?

I was out last night! My local football team managed to secure a home grand final and celebration was in order. I didn't really want to wipe myself out so after a three course meal I went to several pubs drinking a beer at each venue and finishing the night at the casino.

I would have liked to go to a night club but on a saturday night, you line up for half an hour and then a packed in like sardines, so no nightclubs for me.

I don't know what is worse, a club or the people clubbing...

Music sucks, atmosphere sucks, prices suck, bouncers suck, taxi's suck, the people suck, the facebook photo's suck, the headaches suck, the slurry girls suck, the "start on 'em if they look at me funny" guys suck even the damn guy squirting soap in your hands suck...

Honestly, how the fuck can people enjoy it so much that they'll go out week after week after week as if it was the only conceivable of enjoying a weekend with friends? Losers...

This about sums it up for me. Any time I go to a club and am dragged kicking and screaming onto the dance floor, I end up just standing and nodding my head. I am just too self-conscious to dance, and I will freely admit it. I do my best to avoid clubs like the plague. It was the one real down side to my semester in Spain. All my group ever wanted to do was go clubbing, though clubbing was about the only thing to do in the evenings in the town I was in.

Hah, being the guy I am, I googled "what to order in a club" before I went the first time. Someone recommended scotch. So my friend and I, both of us way overdressed in suits might I add, ordered scotch at the bar.

"Uh... We don't have that. We have Crown Royal?"

We ended up sipping Crown Royal on the rocks because we weren't as bravado as you.

While I have never been to a club worthy of the name I've been to plenty of bars and never understood the appeal. Why would you pay extra to drink with your friends when you could do it cheaper and in the comfort of your own home? Its like your paying to hang out with your own friends... well I guess some people go to bars to pick up chicks, but in this town there's a 9/10 chance you'll be getting more than an easy lay that night D:

Dont give me too much cred for it. I was pretty drunk already. If you should order anything though yer first time, you should go for a Rum'n'Coke. Easy to drink if yer not used to drinking. Or a Pink Panther if you arent afraid of people thinking yer gay. Its a pink milkdrink that tastes like a milkshake, so its awesome ;).

Yup, Rum'n'Coke is my go to drink. Just have to watch out, because putting Captain Morgan Spiced Rum in it instead of White Rum makes it cost double, even though Captain Morgan is usually cheaper in stores.
