I think that it is reasonable to point out that this game is probably symptomatic of their generally misogynist culture, but what they choose to create is their business.

Not that we are that much better in the West, but I've never been completely comfortable with relativism either. In any case, it is just a game, so the harm it is doing is probably minimal.

It's sold and played exclusively in japan, if people download it online, that's their problem. Actually just downloading the game would probably be illegal, ironically. It's not a game I have any interest in (unless it's more hilarious than creepy), but the repression of simulated media is always more harmful than good. There's no correlation at all between simulated acts of violence and real violence.

This was THE front-page story on CNN's homepage for most of today. If you actually read the article it implied that these kinds of games are a part of mainstream gaming culture, as is evidenced by this quote:
