I don't know if this is a massive issue(I haven't checked out XBL or PSN), but on Steam, whenever I play Team Deathmatch, people act like absolute dicks and spread out into completely different directions when playing on a public match.
I'm not saying that random people can't work well together(because of Search & Destroy), but this really pisses me off; everytime this sort of thing happens, my team ends up losing the match because of us being too thinly spread(but I know that this could happen to the oppsing team as well, but still it's an issue), and that usually isn't a problem, but it means that careful planning and tactics are thrown out of the window to accomodate for people dicking around.

Basically, what I'm trying to say, is this; Is weak teamwork a massive issue in COD and does it affect other gaming platforms as well?

Well, I haven't played Black Ops, but in MW2 and COD4 its the same thing. And yes I played those on consoles.

I've dabbled in MW2 recently on my PS3, and its still the same as it always was.

So yeah, its the same everywhere.

Try putting together a "clan" because when you're playing with random people, you're going to more often than not have this issue.

Oh yeah. And it's not just for CoD. Almost any game like that, on any platform, without proper communication ends up as a bunch of guys going solo.

Communication is the key. 8/10 times, if you see a group of guys with the same clan tag, who are all using mics, at least half of them will do very well.

It's a problem of every FPS game, not just CoD. CoD just happens to be far more lenient to lone-wolfing.

The solution is simple - get a team of friends together.

thats one massive issue

clans are exlusive, and for people like me, i find it difficult to find a clan or a group of people because in the end, the guys i know IRL dont have consoles or a good gameing PC, i had even vouched to buy them some games, but they dont care at all

and online, well, i just cant find anyone that would care enough to get togheter with me

maybe its because i´m mexican (har har)

This is very true. Fighting solo in COD is very viable; I do it all the time. Ghost+Ninja+Silencer= Lots of kills.

\If you want more team work, try Battlefield Bad Company 2. While it still suffers from the greater internet dickwad theory a little, there's much more teamwork.

I've found this, honestly I just alter my gameplay style. In games like COD you can do just fine on your own as long as the other team isn't a well oiled killing machine.

Otherwise, try sticking close to a few people, they may get the idea eventually.

Already have it, but it gets un petit peu repetitive
I don't think it has any team work, atleast in the ones I played on. Maybe the escapist servers would provide better results.

Buy WaW. It's not as bad; I think it comes down to much better map design, and there aren't the perks to make it quite so bad.

I'm not really a 'clan' person.
Neither am I. But I make sure that I play(usually) with at least 1 or 2 friends that way at least we're on the same page while everyone else is out skull f'ing each other.

If you want shooting teamwork I suggest Day of Defeat: Source, Team Fortress 2 and Insurgency (which is free). To an extent Battlefield games as well.

Call of Duty multiplayer is and always will be every man for himself, team games just mean you can't shoot half of the other players.

In any game, CoD, TF2, CSS, you name it, there will be people that do not cooperate. They will lone wolf, and even if you tell them to do something, they will respond back by telling you some excuse on why you shouldn't tell them what to do. Of course, there are random pubbies that I've met that can work together to an extent.

I even played a few games with a few pubbies that coordinated really well on TDM in Black Ops.
