The reason there is no teamwork is because the game doesn't reward the player for being a team player. For example, you could go capture objectives in a gamemode but your going to get more exp and points by just getting kills and working on challenges. Try Bad Company 2, about as good as you can expect in regards to teamwork

I played some CTF the other day and the team work was almost as good as having a bunch of friends on your team.

Maybe because they're forced to protect the carrier otherwise they lose the game.

CoD and Teamwork
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Sorry. CoD definitely isn't teamwork-oriented. The majority of the players are only in it to get kills, and there are a shitload of people bitching that they can easily take other people on 1v1.

...And that's why I play TEAM Fortress 2.

and as Yahtzee has repeatedly stated, people not in the same room as you are not bound by the most basic rules of social etiquette. So don't expect anyone else online to pay any consideration to you while you play.

If you think there's a lack of teamwork in Team Deathmatch then you obviously haven't played Domination. Everytime I play I'm the only one bothering to cap the flags.

I play with a group of friends pretty much exclusively, and we pretty much dominate whatever we are playing on if it is a public match.

Teamwork really isn't needed for team deathmatch though. You can point out where people are at best, but it still comes down to how good each player is.

Still it is more fun to play with a bunch of friends rather than random people. Even though my group tends to make the opposing team leave halfway through the match.

cod4 competative (i.e. promod clan matches) was near the top of teamplay in any fps game with perhaps the exception of the battlefield series

The simple reason for that phenomenon is that any competent Player will follow what Yahtzee called "the guantanamo bay approach" to teamwork. That is assume that everyone in your team is incompetent, and between flashbangs, noise and teamkilling a bigger threat to you, then to the enemy. Of course until proven otherwise. Teamwork is possible, and happens, it just won't happen right of the bat.

Happens all the time. Last night my random team lost game after game of demolition. In each game there were two guy on our team pulling scores like 75-16 and were abusing us for not getting kills and saying we were shit. I don't think they understood the game.... you could get 1000 kills and no deaths but if you don't plant the bomb you won't fucking win!

COD is full of lone wolf kill-whores who think the only thing that matters is their K/D.

if you want teamwork, get a clan together, because if your team is a random bunch of people you don't know, then everyone thinks they're Rambo.
