there is so many world war two games its unreal
and yet there is only like 6 or 7 good ones
its just beyond rediculous why dont they try something different or if they are so desperate to make a game about a world war try world war 1
I've always thought this too. however, A world war 1 shooter wouldn't work. tranch warfare in a videogame isn't as exciting as it may seem. constant back and forth running through no mans land, and how big could the maps really be? It's an interesting idea, but unless somebody did it without absolute superb detail and presentation..it just wouldn't be what a lot people will like because of the slow paced prgression.

WWI was mostly sitting in a trench, getting bombed, mustard gas, and suicide runs across wastelands... Not the best of videogames...

i agree WW1 wouldnt be all that great, but what about the civil war, or the revolutionary war, no one ever does those and personally i think it would be interesting

the new COD will be THE EXACT SAME just with:
Better Graphics
Different Guns
Vehicles
More Percs (sp?)
*WAY more blood

If you (anyone) feel like you are not going to like the game, don't buy it... it's just one less person for the competition XD

*The people who made COD4 said that COD5 is going to be "The more violent and aggressive of the whole series so far. We really wanted to bring out the dark side of war, and all the hatred that most games don't pick up on."

God I hope not... No disrespect to veterans or anything, but WWII is the new Hoth as far as Videogames is concerned.

If they kept up the whole "modern warfare" spiel, people would eventually get tired of it like WWII. Also, there's still so much of the Pacific Campaign to the cover and the Russians could use some more time in the spotlight.

And, uh, also in their defense they had no reason to know that WW2 was suddenly going to become lame back when they started the project or that COD 4 was going to be as huge as it was. They couldn't really change the game by the time they realized people were cool with FPS games set in Iraq-scenarios.
Wasn't WWII lame five years ago?

see what we need is another real life world war. That way when it all blows over and the allies win again we can start getting some more interesting games based upon it.

ok back OT I don't think the setting matters all that much its the way its executed that counts. Although i can see the same WW2 weapons becoming a bit stale unless they bring in some imaginary prototype gun that may have existed in WW2 minds but that may make it a bit far fetched.
Game Informer made a joke about that in one of their April Fools issues. The headline was "Developers demand new World War; says 'We're tapped out!'" or something like that.

Anyway, the stuff about Call of Duty 6 being in the future are probably just rumors. No details have been released yet, and Infinity Ward has said before that they like the modern setting. My guess is that Call of Duty 6 will be another fictional modern conflict.

Frankly though, I wish Activision would just drop the policy of Call of Duty being the "Madden of Shooters" and just let Infinity Ward spend a good three or four years crafting a new game. More =/= better, and the Call of Duty franchise is starting to suffer because the developers now have so little time to pop out a new game. I miss the days of Call of Duty and Call of Duty 2, when we had three lengthy campaigns all about the same length as the SINGLE campaign in Call of Duty 4...

I miss that in games altogether.

True. Though, to be fair, Call of Duty 4 had a fun campaign...I just want another Call of Duty with three different, lengthy campaigns like in the old days of the series.

If they can make a mission as good as Stalingrad from CoD1 then it doesn't matter which conflict it's set in.

Personally I'm still on the lookout for a Boer War franchise.
Nah man, Zulu is where it's at. Perhaps they could make an inteir series of it, call it "His Majestys Buggery", where you get to follow the royal british marines around the common wealth as they abuse the local populace.

I'd play it.

Personally im not very happy about this, i mean every single cod game out there besides CoD4 has been WW2, i mean why not stay in modern combat, or why not even go to desert storm or something like that. Everyone does WW2 games and they are really getting old, what do you think?
Personally, I think the CoD franchise as a whole is getting old, didn't care too much for CoD4, the only one I really enjoyed was the original on PC.

I think there have officially been more World war 2 games than there have major battles in World War 2....including the pre-1940's war...

I'm happy about it, as I had a real dislike for cod4 being the massive spamfest that it was.
The original call of duty had the best play mechanics, health regen is so unbelevably lame.
I hope to god they don't make a future based one, I can understand why people might think thats a cool idea, but to make it work they would have to completely change the call of duty mechanics (lest they want a spam war like we got in cod4).
