Because Activision are idiots. That's why I don't like it. Compare it to Valve and TF2 who have been updating the game constantly, and recently made it free to play; and Activision who release it year after year, charge for map packs ($15 as well, and there's SEVERAL of them) and now have the balls to charge for stat tracking.

Did I mention TF2 came with Half-Life 2: Episode 2 and Portal?
There idiots for making boat loads of money? Man, I wish I was an idiot!

They are a business, there only goal is to make as much as possible not to make you happy or give you the best product, only to rake in the cash.

Of course the usual way to make money is to make the best product and to keep you happy, they obviously have worked it so they don't have to.

On topic. Why do I hate COD? Aim assist, putting in shitty things (noob tube, why?), having this "host" type connection yadda yadda yadda.

Just general annoying small things, that add up to quite a big annoyance.

Oh it's this thread. Since I posted in the other hundreds of CoD threads, I may as well in this one as well.

CoD's competitive multiplayer is really bad. I think that's more fact than opinion at this point. No one can deny how unbalanced some of them are, particularly MW2. That doesn't mean you can't have fun playing it; I had fun playing it at times. But what has happened in every CoD game so far is that I find the most overpowered weapon/perk/attachment combination and the multiplayer ceases to be any challenge. It got to a certain point where what few deaths I got were unavoidable, such as spawning on a grenade, or right in the crosshairs of an AC130 because some lucky kid on the other team got it out of a care package.

I don't dislike CoD because it's a bad game, I dislike CoD because it's popular. Because it's popular, a lot of FPS these days are basically copies of CoD. Resistance: Fall of Man, one of the first games on the PS3 and it was awesome. In the midst of all these first person shooters copying each other, R:FOM stood out as a classic FPS with modern grahpics. There is very little negative I can say about it. Then Resistance 2 came out and it was more like CoD than R:FOM, it's competitve multiplayer was a joke as a result, so was Resistance 3. Insomniac tried to please everyone with the third installment, and ended up pleasing no one; hardly anyone plays online.

I'm well aware that the FPS is probably the hardest genre to innovate in, and there isn't much risk in designing a game based on something that is already very popular. But I think they need to take a step back, and go back to the design of classic FPS, but that will likely not happen. Realism and graphics so good that you can't see anything seem to be what define a good FPS these days. I'm sorry, but the idea of getting most of my kills from kill steaks rewards is awful, especially while I sit comftorably in a remote corner of the map with a laptop in hand.

Its cool to hate on the popular stuff. People get angry because using the same formula that works is too stale them. Sorry companies don't innovate their games with every single release.

I've asked that same question, and it took me a while, but I believe it's not hating Call of Duty, but the people playing it. Outside of gamers and gamers who are fans of FPS games, the Call of Duty series is known for attracting dick-head, jocks, and 12 year old's(just like Halo did 5 years ago). That's probably the reason why. People who hate COD don't hate the series because of gameplay or story, they hated because that jackass who picked on him in high school, people like him, and obnoxious kids with bad parents are playing a video game, which is always been a nerd thing. I think it's stupid, to hate a series because it also appeals to jackasses, as wells as gamers. I've played and enjoyed plenty of games that plenty of jerk wads in my high school also played, like Call of Duty, Halo, Gears of War, God of War, and, I shit you not, Kingdom Hearts 2, and I've enjoyed them all. Just because some asshole likes something that usually appeals to you doesn't mean you can't like it, nor does it give you a right to hate it.

I Dislike COD becuase of the developers behind the game, Activision, (that and t5he lack of fighter jets) they are extreemly greedy and manage to pull a game out from its nether every year, 2 years of production time is not enough time to create a Single Player Experience thas more than 4 hours gameplay, now there is Call of Duty: Elite, which is a monthly service for a fee, whilst battlefield offers the EXACT SAME SERVICE FOR FREE, then there are the overpriced DLC Map packs, (Which DICE offers for free) then there is the fact that there is nothing new about the game but some more maps, a fancy grenade luancher, and some new kill streaks. Come on, at least Halo 3 got a graphics update. Battleifield, well, we all loved battlefield 2, and Battlefield 3 will not be like Bad Company 2, yes, we will see the same driving mechanics and the same shooting controls, as well as the destructable cover, instead the maps will be more open, large, more weapons with an interesting feel, IMMERSION, it is not realistic, (no game is) but it FEELS realistic, becuase its like your there, considering that you actually have arms and legs and aren't a pair of hands and a gun with a camera masking taped to them. The maps are actually balanced with room for snipers and chocke points, along with suppression points, ablilities and Fighter jets, that and the new bi pod, and the ability to drag your injured teamate into cover to revive him, oh yes and did I mention fighter jets, it feels so good, and fighter jets, FIGHTER JETS!
Have you not been in the gaming industry for the last year? Must I mention all the terrible shit E.A has done? The Dante?s Inferno boycott by religious extremist, who were actually people E.A hired so they could get more publicity for the game, the Medal of Honor censorship, the Dead Space 2 commercial, Online passes, Origins, and that little thing at E3, where they said that ?we?re going to take down Call of Duty and Activision this year?, along with BF3 commercial.

yeah EA Has made mistakes, but at least their games are of higher quality and you aren't being ripped off with every purchase, and about origin, well polietly, who cares, I have steam, so whats the difference with origin, basically its just another addon I have to run,id rather hang with EA than with Activision, at least I get good games for relativley good prices with free map packs and a game that will last longer than a year, considering BF4 if it is made is long off the gaming charts

R.I.P. Call of Duty Bashing Topics

There is no group of dedicated Call of Duty haters on these forums that I'm aware of. Where is this imaginary fucking boogieman you are jumping up and down and pointing to? And why does one have to 'hate' something? Can't they simply 'dislike' it?

The more you little bitches cry about your game being hated, the more I just want to start hating it out of principle.

Hey, it's that thread again... No idea why I keep coming back...

OT: For me, I hate it for what it represents. A dead end. It's just releasing the same gameplay, same weapons, same everything with such bare updates that you could fit in a patch, then have the guts to charge full price for the game and then even more for the 11 million map packs they sell and now they charge for bloody stats tracking? Something that's been free for every other online shooter?

I will give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you have heard nothing about mw3 and are just talking out of your ass. Or well never really played a CoD game for more then twenty minutes. Because if you have you got to be pretty dam delusional to actually believe any of the bullshit you wrote.
I've finished both modern warfare 1 and 2 and played a considerable amount of hours in both's multiplayer. I hardly noticed a difference and I've been keeping track of Modern Warfare 3. Again, haven't noticed a difference. Even that new survival mode is a rip off of it's own zombie mode without the zombies and some kill streaks thrown in.

But still, it's more the business they have made out of it then the game, even though I find the game to be terribly tedious. That's why I don't like call of duty.
