I just finished Code Geass: R2, and wow, just... wow. any thoughts?

Does anyone one know any similar anime? The only other anime I've seen in a similar vein is Death Note.

I'd say the first thing that comes to mind is Death Note, but you already said that. Other than that I don't really have anything.
On a random side note, Darker than Black is the anime that filled Code Geass' timeslot in between seasons. It's by no means the same, but it's alright,

Code Geass was certainly worth watching, but it does not get anywhere even near the awesomeness of Death Note.

I still would, as well, like to know about any similar animes, if there are any.

I'm really not sure if there -are- animes out there that stand under the same genre as Code Geass/Death Note, but.. blah. If there were any, I'd probably be watching them now. ~.~

I'm not even a fan of mech style anime, but Code Geass was pretty unique, not cone across another anime that's similar, or drawn me in as much as Geass did.

*edit* But I have read rumour of a spin off series focussing on the war between Britannia and the EU. I guess that's the closest I can think of

It was a great anime. I've seen all of R1 & R2, and I liked both. The first was near perfect, the only flaw was the lack of a proper ending. R2 was good but not as good. It was just some of the things were too ridiculous, like everyone dressing up as Zero to get away. That and the fights ultimately were about a few bad-ass main robots cutting through the others like a hot knife thought butter. It just wasn't as interesting to me as the fights from R1. The ending of R2 bloody brilliant! It was an amazing ending but they just didn't build up to it properly.
Overall I REALLY liked Code Geass.

Uh, I guess you could give Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann a shot. It's mecha in the same way at least.

Yeah, Code geass was good. Not the best thing I've seen, but decent nevertheless.

Code Geass was surprisingly good. My library has it in the teen movies collection.
Death Note was so good that I bought the live action versions (three dvds). Is there a director or producer that focuses on making Eastern manga into western movies?

I actually found season 2 to be a little bit lacking in quality compared to the first season which ended with the biggest fucking shock I think I've ever seen in an anime.
Also the sudden emphasis on "my mech's bigger than your mech" got a bit childish.

The ultimate ending though was very, very cool.

Its the best, most realistic, look at what is "good" and "evil" and just what is needed to be sacrificed for world unity. Best argument I've ever seen for the ends justify the means. Nothing really that I know of really comes close, Gundam has been trying to use mechs for peace/unity for forever and Code Geass blows them away (Seed wasn't too bad though). I would suggest Full Metal Panic! regardless, there are three series.

I never understood why they had to ruin a perfectly good Giant Robot show with high-school drama and magic eyeballs.

Them Japaneses, man. Them Japaneses.

Psychic Detective Yakumo is a 'similar' anime I suppose. Not really great but not a waste of time either.
I would say go watch other psychological anime, like Ghost in the Shell and Ergo Proxy. Good stuffs....

I stopped watching at the start of R2. The ending to R1 (Really? THAT'S how you want to wrap things up?) and the cheap resolution and reset that R2 began with destroyed my interest in the series.

Code geass nearly fell apart to me when
When Nunnaly comes back from the dead

But still, i feel it recovered some in the final few episodes, and i still I really like the series. The next series that I'd recommend you watch is the same series that i recommend any time someone asks what they should watch next: Baccano. While it doesn't even attempt to match the "mind games" of series like geass and death note (in fact it pretty much avoids them entirely), it makes up for it in incredibly likeable characters, incredible energy sheer epicness. It's an absolute joy from start to finish to watch. Give it a try

Thanks, I've already watched Stand alone complex(thought it was great), but I've never even heard of ergo proxy.
