I'm going to go out on a limb and out myself as a 39 year old mother of two and console gamer. Both my PS2 and PS3 get regular workouts, and I'm currently working my way through Shadow of the Colossus and replaying Bioshock on Hard mode.

My question is: is there anyone else out there in the Escapistverse who's also in my age group/demo? I'm beginning to wonder if I'm well and truly too old to be doing this anymore...ta!

41 years old here, 360 gamer. Don't feel bad; the only minority is people willing to post about it.

This is your first post after all.

Anyway, I'm a high school kid.

Hm, didn't know that.

I'm afraid I can't join you, 21 year old male. But I do think it's real refreshing to hear such a thing.

Welcome to The Escapist, enjoy yourself here, we'll be glad to hear more from you.

I'll say though, that someone who I regularly used to play L4D with was around 58 years old, it was hilariously refreshing to have such a gamer in the group, and I didn't think he was too old at all.

Actually, there are several escapists in your age group (they're the ones who DON'T post lolcats.)

Unfortunately, I'm not in your age group. It's a shame; I've always wanted to be a 39 year old mother, instead I'm stuck being an 18 year old college kid. It's not fair I tell you!

Good for you!
Don't think you're to old for video games, you're never to old for fun and that comes in many forms.
If kicking the tar out of a scantily clad, Japanese school girl on a fighting sim is your poison, well have at it.

You're never to old ^^

Nope, never too old. I'm only 16, so take that with a grain of salt, I guess, but still.

EDIT:Oh yeah; My friend's Dad (I'm horrible at guessing ages, but I'd guess late 30's, early 40's) is a beast at Splinter Cell and Metal Gear Solid.

Not in that age group, but my mother plays games occasionally, but she prefers adventure games such as the Myst series and Kyrandia series. She used to play Mario for the NES quite a bit, and I got her to play GoldenEye once, but she didn't like killing people. My dad used to play Pac-man and he played Contra with me a few times, but overall isn't much of a gamer. More of a pinball wizard. I do look forward to lecturing my future children on how all of their VR nonsense is terrible, and nothing will ever top Doom though.
